As the Data Risk Manager, you will significantly influence the ongoing development and roll-out of TELUS’ Data Governance and Data Risk programs. You will work in a cross-functional group to champion a unified data governance platform across the organization. Your contributions will play a crucial role in our commitment to ethically leverage data while navigating challenges at the intersection of privacy, ethics, technology, and data.

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Steer the successful execution of a data risk roadmap, overseeing its conceptualization, implementation, monitoring, and continuous enhancement
  • Foster the advancement of data governance at TELUS by curating tailored training modules for critical audiences and providing supportive resources for stakeholders. 
  • Ensure a successful deployment of the data governance and data risk management framework by effectively navigating conflicting priorities, efficiently utilizing resources, addressing interdependencies, managing risks, planning for contingencies, and handling scope adjustments
  • Design optimal practices for data risk management including establishing a risk library, common taxonomy, and monitoring activities that align with our business strategy, policies and framework 
  • Join forces with stakeholders to guarantee that the technical design, structural blueprint, and development of data risk tools and technologies gain widespread acceptance
  • Encourage stakeholder involvement in TELUS data-oriented programs
  • Aid in program metrics, including the tracking of success indicators and establishing effective communication channels with key stakeholders

 

What you bring:

 

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in data risk program delivery and development
  • Experience working with/establishing risk programs at a large corporation
  • Proven experience in leading or supporting technological program development
  • Exceptional communication skills to align with teams across various business areas and influence senior-level audiences
  • Ability to translate complex business problems into clear, concise business cases and structured projects/programs
  • Proficient in identifying and proactively considering opportunities to resolve problems and address gaps
  • Expertise in data governance technology, business process modeling, and the implementation of data governance tools (OneTrust and Collibra preferred)
  • High adaptability and comfort working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Google Workspace (G-Suite), Microsoft Office, and other TELUS collaboration tools
  • University degree required
  • Experience in public-facing roles with a customer service element
  • Demonstrable knowledge of privacy or data governance concepts
