As a 5G Capacity and Data Analytics Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping TELUS' radio access network evolution. Your expertise will drive efficient capacity planning and engineering, ensuring our network meets and exceeds customer expectations. You'll be the crucial link between network performance, business requirements, and customer experience, translating complex data into actionable insights.
Your blend of creativity, strong data analytics skills, and RF engineering knowledge will be instrumental in optimizing our 4G/5G networks for both existing and emerging services. As part of our dynamic team, you'll contribute to TELUS' wireless network vision, providing valuable guidance to executives on addressing evolving business challenges. What you’ll do

 

  • Transform our capacity planning processes for the 5G/ORAN service-based era using modern data analytics and automation techniques
  • Define and implement innovative capacity planning models for emerging 5G and LTE use cases
  • Develop and manage comprehensive RAN network capacity plans for both mobility and fixed wireless users
  • Collaborate across technical and business teams to integrate capacity requirements of new technologies and services, ensuring our team's success in an evolving business landscape
  • Create insightful dashboards and data visualizations to communicate network capacity insights within the team, peer groups and to executives
  • Proactively identify current capacity issues and predict future congestion points for regular traffic or special high traffic events through continuous network performance monitoring
  • Lead the execution of wireless capacity augmentations, coordinating with performance and implementation teams to enhance customer experience
  • Drive process improvements for capacity planning and implementation, optimizing efficiency and effectiveness across the network


 

Qualifications


What you bring

 

  • 5+ years of experience in RF engineering, with focus on RAN capacity planning, design, or optimization with demonstrated expertise in 5G/LTE technologies and RF fundamentals
  • 3+ years of experience applying data science techniques such as AI/ML to radio planning and optimization
  • Strong understanding of wireless KPIs and network performance metrics
  • Proven ability to work independently and drive projects from conception to completion
  • Experience with network planning tools and capacity models used for forecasting
  • Ability to analyze problems at both site-specific and national network levels, making data-driven decisions that impact network performance
  • Proficiency in data visualization and analysis tools used in network planning
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data extraction and analysis
  • Familiarity with automation tools and Python scripting for network analysis
  • Experience with RF planning such as Atoll and optimization techniques
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to present technical findings to various stakeholders
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering,Computer Engineering or in Computer Science



Great-to-haves

 

  • Master degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Experience with Open RAN architecture and implementation
  • Industry certifications and experience with Agile development and for cloud based network solutions (e.g. GCP, AWS)

 

Location: Any Major Canadian city



 

Salary Range:  $88,000-$132,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  12%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits such as:
