As a member of the national RAN Standards and Best Practices team, you contribute and support the team by delivering standards and best practices to facilitate network planning, integration, deployment, maintenance, and operations. As the network evolves, you’ll touch all aspects of the RAN network and will constantly evolve our tools, processes, and standards. Description
Here's how
- Collaborating with the various planning and engineering teams to deliver a best-in-class network;
- Initiating efficiency initiatives and driving internal process improvements to reduce both CapEx and OpEx – in the areas of implementation, deployment, operations, and maintenance;
- Developing documentation & best practices to support implementation and operations teams, such as: Guidelines, Method of Procedures (MOP), Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), etc.;
- Supporting new technology introduction, including providing support and training for implementation and field operations;
- Supporting RAN tools and test equipment, including RAN Tier 2 and 3 support, OSS tools integration and Field Ops test equipment standards;
- Championing RAN Reliability initiatives to secure the most reliable network for our customers;
- Providing technical guidance and input into procurement initiatives (RFP’s), as well as working with vendors to implement and test new capabilities and features
- Developing the design of new or revised products or services
- Communicating TELUS requirements & issues to vendors, stay informed of technological developments, and works with internal stakeholders to understand technology capabilities.
Qualifications
What you bring
- 5 or more years of experience working in the telecommunications industry;
- Experience and solid knowledge of TCP/IP backhaul, mid-haul, IPv4-v6, L2/L3 Access Routers/switches, Ethernet Testing/Validation
- Experience and solid knowledge of 4G (LTE) and 5G radio access network equipment, fibre front-haul (CPRI / eCPRI)
- Bachelor degree in engineering, telecom, or equivalent;
- Experience in RAN installation, operations, and maintenance best practices;
- Experience with telecom DC power systems, power distribution, and energy storage systems;
- Process engineering skills, including the ability to convey concepts clearly to stakeholders;
- Proven track record on delivering on goals/objectives in a challenging environment;
- ‘customer first’ focus and unrelenting passion for network reliability;
- Problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proven creative and collaborative team-focused approach to problem solving
Great-to-haves
- Experience acting in a Designer II role
- Fluent in French and English - both written and spoken
- Knowledge of AI applications
- Programming and/or scripting skills
- P.Eng designation
Locations: Any major Canadian city
Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.
