As the Director of Artificial Intelligence reporting to the Chief Insights and Analytics Officer, you will oversee a team of AI Managers and experts who serve as technical business consultants, delivering value across various business units. Your primary responsibility will be to spearhead significant and quantifiable outcome focused transformations that enhance cost efficiency and revenue generation through the deployment of innovative and disruptive AI technologies on an enterprise scale. Additionally, you will ensure the organization maintains its industry AI leadership and competitive edge against top global companies.

What you'll do

 

  • Lead and Inspire: Manage a team of AI Managers and machine learning engineering experts, inspiring them to act as intrapreneurs who identify opportunities, take calculated risks, and own the results and impact of their work.
  • Strategic Implementation: Drive the development and execution of AI strategies that align with TELUS' business objectives, ensuring transformative and disruptive technologies are implemented at scale.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate complex technical problems and AI-driven insights to non-technical audiences to unlock new business needs and drive decision-making.
  • Motivate and Retain Talent: Cultivate a motivating environment where team members feel valued and encouraged to pursue continuous learning and innovation in a fast-changing technological landscape.
  • Change Management: Facilitate organizational change by operationalizing AI insights and managing transformations through effective change management practices.
  • Performance Optimization: Dynamically prioritize the team’s work to maximize measurable business outcomes, managing delivery lifecycles and business models efficiently.
     

What you bring

 

  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in managing and building strong teams, driving a culture of high engagement, and delivering outstanding program results.
  • AI and Data Expertise: Extensive experience in deploying AI and machine learning solutions, with a deep understanding of data science techniques to generate actionable insights.
  • Business Acumen: Proven experience in developing new strategies, identifying business opportunities, and achieving financial outcomes through AI-driven initiatives.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and influence decision-making at the executive level.
  • Strategic Thinking: Advanced skills in strategic analysis, thinking, and execution, with a proven ability to drive from the strategic to the tactical.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related fields. An MBA or a Master’s in a related field is a plus.

Salary Range:  $128,000-$192,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  30%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits such as:
