We are the Emergency Response & Business Continuity team, dedicated to coordinating and supporting corporate preparedness, risk mitigation, emergency response, crisis management, and business continuity efforts to prioritize the safety of our team members and ensure connectivity for our communities and customers at all 4 stages of the emergency management lifecycle.


As the Emergency Response and Business Continuity Manager at TELUS, you will lead the organization's response to emergencies and crises by developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks, prepare emergency playbooks, collaborating with internal teams and external partners, and managing projects to enhance TELUS' resilience. Your role will involve 2-week on-call rotations, quick decision-making, and effective leadership during high-stress situations to safeguard operations and maintain business continuity.

What you’ll do:


  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with emergency management partners at all levels of government, public safety agencies, and critical infrastructure partners
  • Participate in 2-week on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 availability for emergency response and crisis management
  • Monitor and assess climatic, physical and human threats that may pose a risk to TELUS team members, infrastructure, reputation and services
  • Coordinate the TELUS crisis management team and lead response efforts during emergencies and crisis situations
  • Liaise with Federal, Provincial, Municipal and Partner agencies during emergency events
  • Maintain the corporate Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) and emergency communication channels at high availability
  • Support internal teams in developing and exercising emergency preparedness and response playbooks to enhance organizational resilience
  • Manage special projects and events that contribute to TELUS' overall resilience and preparedness for emergencies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure business continuity in the face of disruptions
  • Support emergency preparedness and awareness initiatives to enhance organizational readiness and response capabilities
  • Development and facilitation of emergency response and business continuity training and exercise programs
  • Represent TELUS at industry and community conferences in events to educate stakeholders and community members on the TELUS Emergency Response and Business Continuity Program



What you bring:


  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Emergency Management, Business Continuity, or related field
  • Professional designations such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Incident Command System (ICS), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Member of the Business Continuity Institute (MBCI) designation is a plus
  • Demonstrable experience in risk management, emergency planning, or crisis response within the telecom, critical infrastructure or technology industry
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and make informed decisions under pressure
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities to effectively coordinate response efforts and engage stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with experience providing situational briefings to senior leadership and government agencies
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to emergency management and business continuity. (ISO 22301, CSA 1600)
  • This position requires the flexibility to work in Atlantic and Eastern Time Zones for emergency coverage in Eastern Canada. Candidates must be available to respond to crisis situations and emergencies during Eastern Time business hours


Great to haves:


  • Fluent French language skills (speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension
  • Experience and understanding of telecoms, utilities, critical infrastructure organizations or large-scale enterprise organizations
  • Familiarity with Canadian geography and the ability to navigate fluidly through Geographic Information Systems (GIS)



Salary Range:  $88,000-$132,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
