As part of the Finance team supporting the TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods portfolio which includes global business operations, you will join a team which has a wide scope of responsibilities and opportunities, and act as a trusted business partner to help accelerate business growth. You will proactively participate in projects and initiatives within developing markets contained in a number of our growth areas as well as our expansion into an exciting emerging business.

As a Financial Analyst II, reporting into the Controller – Finance, you will be an integral part of the Finance team. You will be leveraging your innovative and entrepreneurial approach to provide insightful advice and recommendations to emerging business leaders to achieve their financial goals and influence key decisions to drive profitable growth. You will partner with internal stakeholders, across the organization and internationally, as well as financial professionals, in the presentation of financial results. In addition to supporting the financial reporting and planning processes, you will oversee the integration, standardization and enhancement of the acquired companies’ financial processes and procedures, giving you the opportunity to make a difference in this emerging business.
 

Here’s How

 

  • Be a trusted advisor to the TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods team
  • Support and coordinate the financial reporting and planning processes for the operational areas of TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods, including monthly risks and opportunities deep dives, variance deep dives, and strategic planning requirements
  • Provide insightful support to help drive profitable growth and expansion, and to ensure alignment with the overall corporate priorities
  • Partner with primes and key stakeholders to prepare executive level summary reports and presentations to support decision making
  • Identify trends to drive and support effective forecast, budget and long-range planning processes
  • Support ad-hoc financial and operational analysis as required
  • Drive operational improvements
  • Implement best practice financial processes and governance framework, continuous improvements and operational efficiencies within the operational areas of new emerging businesses
  • Partner with primes and key stakeholders to ensure efficient systems process integration, operational improvements and cost efficiencies, including alignment of processes across the Business Unit
  • Maintain standard hierarchies and create alternative hierarchies as required to drive efficient and effective reporting and analytics

What you’ll bring

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Valued for your 2+ years of relevant experience in a finance/accounting position in a large, complex and dynamic organization
  • Respected as a strong collaborative team player with ability to build strong relationships in a cross-functional team environment
  • Known as a self-starter who is willing to “roll up your sleeves”, step outside your sandbox when required, and operate nimbly to drive execution/to meet deliverables
  • Able to apply innovative and creative ideas and solutions to complex issues, along with a strong sense of ownership and bias for action
  • Able to manage multiple deliverables to meet deadlines and goals in a dynamic, ever-changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to scope out difficult tasks, set goals, develop schedules, prioritize multiple activities and anticipate roadblocks
  • Strong business acumen and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

Great-to-haves

 

  • Working towards a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or near completion
  • SaaS/technology industry background considered an asset
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software (SAP, Hyperion, Oracle Cloud EPM)
  • Proficiency with Google workspace
  • Exceptional in-depth Microsoft (MS) Excel and PowerPoint skills

 

While this position is posted as a Financial Analyst II position, candidates whose experience and qualifications align more closely with a Financial Analyst III role are strongly encouraged to apply as we have flexibility to consider candidates at this level. Location: any major Canadian city

Salary Range:  $61,000-$91,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  10%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
