Mobile Klinik (MK), now part of TELUS, is on a mission to become Canada's premier "one stop phone shop." With 140+ stores coast to coast, we're rapidly expanding to provide Canadians with a complete destination for all their wireless needs – buying, selling, repairing, and connecting devices.

We are currently looking for a Senior Accountant, reporting to the Team Manager, Finance. As an integral member of the MK Finance team, you will play a key role in day-to-day accounting functions and the monthly financial closing process to enable the team to provide complete and accurate financial reporting.

You will maintain and evolve our financial reporting processes. One important goal for our team is to communicate any problems you may see from the financials with the Operations team in a timely manner, to better ensure stores comply with the rules and procedures so that the POS raw data can be cleaner and more accurate. You will foster relationships with teams across the organization at both MK and the TELUS level to obtain understanding of the business, present findings, and prepare financial and management reporting.
This role is a blend of traditional full-cycle accounting duties where we leverage defined workflows and processes (which of course you will play a big role in) but also plenty of exposure into ad-hoc projects into deep dives, operations, taxations, integration, and many more areas where you can make a huge impact and continually grow and develop your expertise !

What you’ll do

  • Execute full-cycle accounting including month-end entries and accruals
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with stakeholders
  • Manage and resolve SAP Intercompany mismatches across TELUS entities
  • Monitor POS data integrity and coordinate issue resolution
  • Prepare quarterly store financial reports and address compliance matters
  • Drive process improvements and provide analytical insights for forecasting
  • Manage IFRS 16 budgeting and quarterly analysis
  • Support sales tax filing with TELUS Taxation team
  • Maintain and update documentation for core responsibilities
  • Assist with financial reporting requirements for new business initiatives
  • Help develop and document internal controls and policies
  • Support additional projects and ad hoc reporting as needed

What you’ll bring

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with full cycle accounting and financial analysis, preferably in a retail environment
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and pursuing CPA designatio
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel (e.g. nested IF statements, pivot tables, Index Match, Vlookups, etc)
  • Excellent time management skills and strong prioritization skills; proven ability to successfully meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational, analytical, detail oriented and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Experience with data visualization and presentation of complex financial information

Great-to-haves

  • Experience with accounting systems in SAP an asset
  • Exposure to IFRS
