The TELUS Business Solutions (TBS) organization is dynamic, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial. Together, the team is responsible for driving profitable growth within a key growth segment for TELUS: Small & Medium business (SMB). 

Our Team – Lifecycle Marketing and Data Science - has a mandate to build solutions for our stakeholders using data to drive business outcomes.  We love to turn data into stories - stories about money falling through the cracks, success stories about our products and services, but most importantly stories about our customers and how we can enhance their experience.

What you’ll do

 

As a Data Scientist in the team, you will be working with Business Stakeholders and a Data Engineer to build machine learning/AI models to protect the customer base, acquire new customers and to enable intelligent marketing campaigns.  Your solutions will have a direct impact on marketing sales targets and P&L.

 

  • Ability to own complex or new AI/ML models or initiatives in a functional domain (e.g. marketing upsell, etc.)
  • Lead data discovery and analytical efforts to innovatively use data to generate hypotheses, discover signals, patterns, and relationships that will guide strategic and operational decisions for the assigned business unit
  • Provide data analysis and standard reporting support 
  • Apply advanced data science techniques (e.g. NLP, deep learning, reinforcement learning) with complex data streams at different timescales
  • Understanding of functional areas for specific use-cases including business objective and KPIs to be impacted via AI/ML 
  • End-to-end responsibility (conception to insight delivery) of complex use-cases with a focus on driving business outcomes and not just the process
  • Ability to communicate and gather advanced Data Science requirements from Manager-level stakeholders and communicate finding/insights in clear concise manner; ability to create/deliver impactful presentations        

Qualifications

 

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or equivalent experience/certificates    
  • GCP Machine Learning Engineer Certificate        
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of experience in Data Science, at least 2 years of experience in independently leading projects/modeling
  • Advanced coding experience in Python/R and SQL using frameworks like Pandas, Scikit Learn, and advanced libraries like Tensorflow, PyTorch, Keras. 
  • Comfortability with model deployment tools in cloud computing platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure). 
  • Experience in software engineering fundamentals for productionizing complex models.

 

 Great-to-have

 

  • Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end AI/ML models using GCP services
  • Experience in MLOps, supporting the data infrastructure required for machine learning workflows.
  • Machine Learning and AI models, including classification, clustering, time series analysis, NLP, optimization, and deep learning experience or knowledge
  • Certification on Google cloud or any other cloud platform
  • Telecom industry experience
Salary Range:  $86,000-$130,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  12%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience.
