Do you enjoy partnering with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver seamless customer experiences? If so, TELUS is looking for you to join our Platform & Services team to help shape the next generation of TELUS TV+ services.

In this role, you will provide technical leadership, architectural guidance, and operational insight to ensure our solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business priorities. You’ll mentor engineers, work closely with squads, and help improve the overall software development lifecycle (SDLC), while championing a DevOps-first mindset and customer-centric delivery.

What you’ll do

Architect End-to-End Solutions

  • Design and deliver integrated solutions spanning metadata services, client-facing APIs, and multi-platform applications (iOS, Android, Web, FireTV, etc.)
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineering leads, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps and scalable architectures
  • Ensure seamless integration between backend services and client applications, focusing on performance, resiliency, and user experience
  • Integrate security best practices and compliance requirements into every layer of the architecture, ensuring safe handling of user data and content.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Provide architectural direction across multiple squads and engineering domains (backend, client, API, and data)
  • Mentor engineers and guide teams through best practices in API design, data flows, and system integration
  • Foster a culture of knowledge sharing, innovation, and technical excellence

Drive SDLC Improvements & Operational Excellence

  • Partner with squads to optimize delivery pipelines, enhance release practices, and improve engineering velocity
  • Champion a DevOps-first approach, focusing on observability, automation, and continuous delivery
  • Work closely with operations and engineering teams to proactively identify and resolve customer-impacting issues

Qualifications

What you bring

  • 8+ years of experience in software architecture or solution design for large-scale, distributed systems
  • Proven track record delivering cloud-native, microservices-based solutions (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
  • Strong expertise in API design, data modeling, and service integration
  • Hands-on experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift)
  • Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub, or equivalent) for high-throughput systems
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps automation, and modern software delivery practices
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to align multiple squads, stakeholders, and product teams
  • Deep understanding of security best practices in distributed systems, including identity management, encryption, and API security
  • Strong knowledge of scalability patterns (caching strategies, load balancing, failover, disaster recovery)

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in video streaming platforms, metadata systems, or large-scale content delivery
  • Familiarity with GCP native services (Cloud Run, GKE, Pub/Sub, Spanner, BigQuery)
  • Knowledge of observability platforms (Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog) and performance tuning techniques
  • Understanding of SAFE/Agile delivery frameworks and cross-squad planning practices
  • Hands-on development experience in Java, Node.js, or modern client frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)
  • Exposure to edge computing or CDN architectures (Akamai, CloudFront, Cloudflare) for video delivery
  • Experience in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm, Pulumi) for scalable cloud deployments
  • Knowledge of real-time analytics and monitoring pipelines for customer experience (QoS, playback metrics, churn prediction)
  • Background in cost optimization strategies for large-scale cloud services
  • Familiarity with multi-region deployments and blue/green or canary release strategies
