As the Manager, Data Product at TELUS, you will lead strategic and operational efforts to manage data products that deliver critical business insights and operational efficiencies. Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Data Product Strategy and Development:
    • Craft and optimize scalable ETL pipelines using GCP tools like Dataflow and Cloud Data Fusion
    • Seamlessly integrate data from various sources into our GCP ecosystem, supporting both real-time and batch workflows
    • Transform raw data into actionable insights using BigQuery, Dataproc, and Dataflow
  2. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to ensure data products meet user needs
    • Act as the primary liaison between technical teams and business units, promoting transparency and clear communication
  3. Data Product Lifecycle Management:
    • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for data integration and processing initiatives
    • Oversee the entire lifecycle of data products, from conception to deployment and ongoing optimization
  4. Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay ahead of industry trends and incorporate emerging technologies into data products
    • Foster a culture of experimentation, continuous learning, and iterative improvement
  5. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Mentor and develop a high-performing team of data engineers and analysts. Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and cultivate a collaborative team environment

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience: 7+ years in data engineering, ETL, or data integration roles, with 3+ years in a managerial position leading teams of 5+ members. Hands-on experience with GCP services is essential
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and ETL processes. Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Attributes:
    • Strategic thinker with a bias for action
    • Adaptable to a fast-paced and evolving business environment. Passionate about leveraging data to drive business outcomes
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in BigQuery, Cloud Data Fusion, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub. Proficiency in SQL and programming languages like Python or Java
    • Familiarity with GCP IAM, security best practices, and cost optimization
  • Leadership and Soft Skills:
    • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team
    • Strong analytical and communication skills to align technical solutions with business objectives

Salary Range: $108-$162,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 20%

 

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
