The Platform Engineering & Common Services (PE & CS) organization within the Customer Technology Excellence (CTE) Business Unit is a unique team with a mandate to drive SRE, DevOps, Cloud, Enterprise Architecture (EA), Payments and Identity Management (IDM). The PE & CS team is accountable for building & lifecycle management of TELUS' Cloud Development Platform, FinOps capability, security guardrails, providing consulting & guidance through Brain Trust and overall governance.  

We are integral to the delivery of technology assets, with a focus on EA, DevOps, Cloud engineering & SRE standards, software engineering standards, and enterprise reusable assets such as IDM & Payments within the Chief Development Office (CDO). This team has technical expertise, innovative ideas and business smarts and are passionate about delivering technology to enable exceptional and reliable customer experiences.

What you'll do

The Enterprise IT Strategy & Administration Manager’s mandate will be to establish a team that works closely with the VP of PE & CS to establish the overall strategy and roadmap to the department.  The PE & CS is a newly established department with the CDO division with the mandate to modernize and transform IT by enabling the cloud journey, productizing common services and creating a culture of engineering excellence. We are on a journey to progress our IT operating model, and this team will continue to grow and evolve as we consider other teams that fit this mandate to join our organization. We are in need of an experienced leader to be at the forefront and build this team.

In a highly visible management role, the incoming manager will work closely with the Director of Strategy for the CDO and the VP of PE & CS on developing strategic plans and roadmaps for our technology teams and direction. 

With strong business acumen and a highly strategic mindset, the successful candidate will work cross functionally throughout the organization, to develop and execute on a robust technology focused strategic plan. They will quickly build credibility internally with key functional players, and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of product & change management, financial acumen, robust business sense, executive level experience and presence to manage cross stakeholder forums, senior meetings and reporting progress on outcomes via scorecard readouts and quarterly updates.  

In addition, you will be collaborating with and influencing a diverse group of leaders to determine the business imperatives, prioritization of products, and timelines.  It is serious, challenging and rewarding work but instrumental in keeping our organization at the forefront of progressing our Customer First priorities while continuing to drive innovation & trust.

  • Influence multi-disciplinary and cross functional teams in a matrix structure to successfully deliver on objectives
  • Drive change management across PE & CS to help create a unified mission, customer first culture, agile development methods and product management techniques
  • Create and deliver presentations to executive leadership team on key strategic opportunities and initiatives

  • Regarded as an exceptional communicator (clear and concise), influencer and negotiator including an ability to drive alignment through compelling storytelling and presentation to executive audience
  • Experience in program/product management, agile development, change & management 
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration, or equivalent education and/or experience
  • 5-7 years of people leadership experience
