As Manager, Security Architecture you will lead the definition and governance of security architecture across TELUS Health, ensuring our products, services and information is “Secure by Design.” You will define scalable and integrated security services to deliver sustainable CSO security capabilities and integrate security into our products and their lifecycle.  


You will partner with product, technology, cloud and development teams to integrate security into our products, the product development integration and delivery pipelines, and across our multi and hybrid cloud.  You will lead our data security architecture ensuring our information (structured and unstructured) is secured from creation to disposition.


The security architecture you define will make best use of strategic vendors, managed services and corporate services to deliver a sustainable, effective and contemporary security capability that is flexible and extensible.

What you'll do


  • Manage and develop a team of security architects spanning infrastructure, cloud, application, identity and data specialists, ensuring the right level of expertise is applied to each deliverable.
  • Consultation with product and technology leads to capture product and Health specific requirements that are reflected in security architecture design.
  • Establish security architecture and governance driving consistent and effective security into the design of products and services across TELUS Health.
  • Lead the integration of security into the product lifecycle through application security best practice, devsecops, security patterns, testing and tooling across traditional and modern (e.g. CI/CD) operations.
  • Lead the definition of the data security strategy and architecture supporting discovery, classification, masking, tokenization, sanitization, key management, encryption, rights management etc.
  • Work across our multi-cloud environment establishing appropriate security guardrails, services and patterns to deliver a secure and assurable cloud capability that supports business and operational requirements.
  • Define the security architecture for CSO security services leveraging strategic vendors, corporate services, integration and automation to achieve scalable and sustainable security services.
  • Lead work across cybersecurity/technology architecture, strategy, and operating models to provide guidance to team members
  • Deliver the security architecture governance in support of end to end security architecture reviews as part of the wider IT Lifecycle
  • Apply a threat led approach leveraging threat intelligence, and modeling to identify and prioritize security requirements.

What you bring


  • 5 years or more of demonstrated experience in a security architecture role
  • 3 years or more experience leading a team of cybersecurity professionals 
  • Expertise in cloud security architecture (Azure, AWS, GCP), demonstrating solutions delivery, practices and innovative technologies
  • Experience applying security within the software development lifecycle for traditional and devops operations with practical experience of security tooling and automation.
  • In depth understanding of data security strategy and tooling such as data leak prevention, data discovery, classification, encryption, masking, tokenization and rights management.
  • University degree in a related field (information security, computer science, engineering) or the equivalent experience demonstrated by progressive responsibilities
  • Accreditation in CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control) or related equivalent certification.
  • Working knowledge or certification to SABSA or TOGAF architecture frameworks.
  • Strong working knowledge of core security controls spanning data, identity, infrastructure and operations.




  • Experience within a regulated business environment
