Description

 

We are seeking a strategic and innovative Manager of Rating to lead our rating capabilities across all TELUS brands and services. This role is critical in positioning TELUS uniquely against competitors through the strategic development and implementation of rating solutions for prepaid and postpaid mobility services, as well as wireline offerings. The successful candidate will drive the evolution of our rating capabilities through innovative roadmap development and AI-powered solutions that simplify and enhance our development lifecycle.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Strategic Leadership

 

  • Define and articulate the strategic role that rating plays in supporting TELUS products and competitive positioning
  • Develop comprehensive rating strategies across all TELUS brands, prepaid/postpaid mobility, and wireline services
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align rating capabilities with broader business objectives
  • Identify market opportunities and competitive advantages through innovative rating approaches

 

Team Management & Development

 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 2 full-time employees and manage contractor relationships
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Provide performance management, career development, and succession planning for team members
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners

 

Product & Technology Innovation

 

  • Lead the development of a comprehensive roadmap for rating capabilities that are relevant, innovative, and future-focused
  • Identify and implement opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to simplify and optimize the full development cycle
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives within the rating domain
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape

 

Operational Excellence

 

  • Ensure rating solutions meet quality, performance, and scalability requirements
  • Oversee the delivery of rating projects on time and within budget
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for rating capabilities
  • Implement best practices for rating development, testing, and deployment

 

 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in telecommunications, with 3+ years in management roles
  • Deep understanding of telecommunications rating systems, billing processes, and revenue management
  • Proven experience managing both full-time employees and contractor relationships
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills with ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Experience with product roadmap development and portfolio management
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for executive-level stakeholders

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Master's degree in relevant field or MBA
  • Experience with AI/ML implementation in telecommunications or rating systems
  • Knowledge of prepaid/postpaid mobility services and wireline products
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices
  • Previous experience in competitive analysis and market positioning
  • Familiarity with telecommunications industry standards and regulations
  • Experience with cloud-based rating solutions and modern technology stacks

Salary Range:  $114,000-$172,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  20%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
