People Analytics (PA) is a small team with big scope. We are collaborative, enthusiastic problem solvers delivering better people and business outcomes through data that is business informed, business relevant, usable, and actionable. PA is responsible for enabling HR and Business leaders with insights to make evidence-based decisions which support the creation and execution of People and Business strategies. The team needs an individual who is creative, technical, curious, and passionate about using data to drive business results. This is a fast paced, highly rewarding role that makes an impact at TELUS through the ability to change the way we look at people data.

The Senior People Analytics Consultant will use consulting and analytical skills to deliver people analytics and insights to TELUS’ Business Leaders and HR to drive people strategy and strategic workforce decisions. The job will be a combination of solving strategic problems and servicing day-to-day data requests (80/20 split).

  • Gain strong understanding of TELUS’ business and people goals and use analytical skills to make data-driven workforce strategy recommendations to support business objectives
  • Consult with HR and Business leaders to scope client needs, understand the root of the client’s challenge, and translate them to questions that can be approached through analytics
  • Perform exploratory data analysis, generate and test working hypotheses, and uncover trends and relationships
  • Communicate results of analysis to stakeholders at all levels using reports and engaging presentations. Help tell stories with data and make recommendations by interpreting the “so what” and “now what” from analysis
  • Identify, prioritize and implement improved data quality and additional data capture opportunities to enhance analytical capabilities
  • Assist in building analytical acumen among team members in the People & Culture organization





You're the missing piece of the puzzle


  • High business and analytical acumen with excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to influence and partner with stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of the HR function and data or a demonstrated ability to quickly acquire functional expertise
  • Ability to draw conclusions using data in order to answer business questions and clearly communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable working with large sets of data with ability to merge and analyze data from disparate sources
  • General knowledge of statistical and data analysis tools and methods to conduct or direct analytical work appropriately
  • Advanced Excel skills (lookups, complex array formulas, data modeling, formatting, data visualization)
  • Advanced PowerPoint skills including experience creating compelling presentations that blend data with insights
  • Project orientation and ability to balance multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity while being highly adaptable and flexible to changing demands
  • Learning orientation and desire to stay ahead of the latest developments in the field of HR reporting, analytics and related technology




Preference will be given to candidates with some combination of the following:


  • 3+ years of experience working in a consultative capacity using people data to generate critical insights for leaders and decision makers
  • Background in strategy/HR consulting or in I/O psychology
  • Proficiency with SQL, statistical software packages (e.g., R, Python, SAS, SPSS), and data visualization tools
  • Knowledge of various machine learning techniques and key parameters that affect their performance
  • Experience in designing and implementing A/B Testing, measuring and improving processes to enhance Employee experience
  • Experience conducting analysis and creating storyboards in Visier




  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Math, HR, Social Sciences, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Language – Bilingual English/French an asset
