As a Privacy & Innovation Manager, supported by the Senior Manager, Privacy & Innovation, in the Data & Trust Office you will materially influence the ongoing development of TELUS’ business innovation.
You will ensure that data-driven initiatives meet our rigorous privacy, security and ethical standards. You will collaborate with, advise and guide businesses in addressing privacy and data considerations in a manner that demonstrates TELUS’ commitment to putting customers and their privacy first.
Here’s how:
- Add value and support to business units to deploy or leverage technology responsibly and ethically by providing expert advice and counsel to execute on TELUS’ data handling frameworks.
- Educate and advise the business team on existing or new data, privacy, and ethical uses, and provide strategies to address privacy and data governance considerations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure adherence to the TELUS’ Trust Model.
- Escalate privacy risks promptly, and with a sense of urgency, and ensure that mitigating controls are effective to protect the privacy of our customers and team members.
Qualifications
What you bring
- Valued for your knowledge and expertise in applying privacy laws, guidance and best practices, and an understanding of data ethics, operational data governance and data protection.
- Recognized for your ability to enable business areas to navigate complex initiatives by solving problems while protecting the privacy of customers and team members to drive remarkable outcomes for privacy, the business and the organization.
- Valued for understanding risk management principles and supporting businesses in finding innovative solutions to complex business issues with a focus on win-win solutions.
- Understand the Mergers & Acquisition process and capable of identifying risks and implementing innovative solutions to mitigate risks.
- Sought out for excellent communication skills, verbal & written, with the ability to present information at all levels of the organization.
- Post-secondary education.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in applying privacy law and principles.
- International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) certification or willingness and ability to become certified within 6 months.
Great-to-haves:
- Bilingual in French & English, verbal and/or written.
- Legal background/experience.
- Experience working in a large, matrixed organization.
