As a Privacy Advisor in Digital Health you will influence TELUS’ innovation in the health sector. Your ability to provide analysis and guidance, combined with a keen interest in privacy will help meet the data and privacy needs of TELUS Health. You will ensure that all initiatives meet our rigorous privacy, security and ethical standards. You will collaborate with the business in addressing privacy and data considerations in a manner that demonstrates TELUS’ commitment to putting customers and their privacy first.
At the same time, you will be an integral member of the Health Privacy team supporting TELUS Health, through contributing to Privacy Impact Assessments, playbooks and tools, and guidance within a healthcare context. You will work to ensure TELUS Health is able to implement best practices and innovative privacy solutions to earn the trust of our customers. You will advocate for TELUS’ Trust Model as the fundamental driver for all our decisions around data, privacy and innovation recognizing the fundamental role that trust plays in TELUS’ mission.
What you’ll do:
- Gather, document, analyze, and advise on privacy requirements for data initiatives, product releases, and mergers and acquisitions
- Participate in Privacy Impact Assessments, identify risks and provide corresponding recommendations to leadership
- Monitor privacy trends in the broader health system environment and deliver analysis of potential impact to TELUS Health’s information and privacy practices
- Provide the Health Privacy leadership with recommendations on how to best address privacy gaps
- Advise implementation teams on how to best ensure clients are able to maximize privacy controls and functionality without compromising effectiveness of digital health systems
- Support the development of a data program that meets or exceeds the expectations of our customers while simultaneously ensuring TELUS’ ability to respectfully leverage data to deliver value to our stakeholders
- Add value and support business units to deploy or leverage technology, including AI, ethically by providing analysis to execute on TELUS’ data handling frameworks
- Support in designing and documenting processes that standardize best practices and support an agile development methodology
- Aid in the evaluation and reporting on the performance of the program using established success metrics
- Learn continuously, innovate every day and seek opportunities to develop and demonstrate thought-leadership
- Assisting teams with the management of privacy incidents
- Support the operation of the health privacy response team responsible for managing customer requests and handling ordinary course incidents
Qualifications
What you bring:
- 3-5 years relevant experience such as analyst, advisor or planning roles
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conceptualize,
research, analyze and present relevant information - Experience reviewing and analyzing legislative and regulatory requirements globally
- Experience with digital health systems like Electronic Medical Records or Clinical Information Systems
- Experience with Vendor/3rd Party risk management
- Can demonstrate an understanding of privacy best practices
- Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills
- Enjoy engaging and educating people both internally and externally
- The ability to protect the TELUS brand and act with a sense of urgency to efficiently assess material impacts and effectively mitigate risks
- Can develop creative solutions where challenges are presented
- Adapt easily , and comfortable working in a demanding and fast-paced environment
- Post-secondary education in relevant area
- IAPP certified (or willing to become certified within 6 months)
Great-to-haves
- Experience with provincial health information legislation
- A university degree in Health Sciences or Computer Science
- Health Information Technology industry experience
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle
- Project management experience is an asset
- French/English bilingual capabilities are a bonus for this role
Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its international scope.
