The Channel Operations team is currently looking for an experienced professional to join the team as Senior Business Analyst.  The successful candidate will have a diverse portfolio of work to provide greater insight and visibility to channel performance, evaluate the viability and impact of all distribution channel compensation changes and opportunities.  This position will provide you with great exposure to several of our key sales channels, their performance, motivators, and future direction.  

The successful candidate must have very strong reporting and analysis skills, math skills, and people skills.  This position needs a smart person who can see the big picture, envision the future, build a path to get there, support it with numbers and crazy math skills, consider complex interactions and systems and data tables/structures/joins, and sell it to the executive and our channel support teams.

As part of the team, you’ll be responsible for


  • Keeping the channel compensation structure and levers relevant and highly effective in today’s complex world and considering all the changes and what’s needed in the future to leverage them
  • Helping to manage special compensation programs that drive behaviour and pay for value delivered
  • Modeling the channel compensation impact of a wide variety of initiatives by generating reports to determine existing behaviour and extrapolating based on the expected changes to identify variances
  • Translating business requests into data speak, analyzing the results to find the relevant nuggets, consolidating the findings into prioritized, pertinent, and succinct recommendations 
  • Generating and analyzing reports of existing channel partner transactions and compensation to determine effectiveness and making recommendations for changes
  • Along with the rest of this 3-pillared platform team, living and breathing the prime directive of "Pay Correctly and On Time"



What you bring

  • Knowledge and experience with advanced Excel (including pivot tables and sumifs)
  • Knowledge of TELUS channel systems/processes and sales channels are a definite asset

Required Skills & Abilities


  • Math/Numbers Oriented – ability to problem solve relatively complex mathematical puzzles
  • Detail Oriented - ability to dig into the details associated with hundreds of channel partners and ensure that thousands of values for them are accurate
  • Business Oriented – ability to understand upfront system and business processes/workarounds and their downstream impact on reports/numbers
  • Organization - ability to structure what appear to be random thoughts/situations/scenarios and organize them into buckets/processes/rules
  • Understand complexity - ability to quickly understand complex scenarios, situations, systems, and their interactions
  • Multi-tiered - ability to see the big picture and thereby understand the interaction between systems, but also dig into the details to see the consequences of change
  • Selling – ability to document benefits and sell your ideas to others
  • Writing - ability to write clear, concise, complete, and well structured documents
  • Project Management - although this is not a PM position, these skills apply to almost all positions and tasks and the candidate must have a good understanding and application of PM basics
  • People – ability to work with a skilled and competent team and work collaboratively and selflessly with them to deliver great results


  • Post-secondary education in a quantitative discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Business)
  • 8+ years work experience in a business setting demonstrating capability and understanding of the following:
    • Reporting
    • Financial analysis
    • Business processes
