Are you passionate about driving strategic change and optimizing business performance? TELUS is seeking a dynamic professional to join our Investment Returns Excellence team, as part of the TELUS' Chief Finance Office.

 

We're spearheading a critical initiative to revolutionize TELUS' business planning processes. Our goal? To dramatically enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and execution across the organization, directly aligning with our CEO's vision for optimized planning methodologies impacting the return on invested capital (ROIC). In this pivotal position, you'll be at the forefront of evolving TELUS' business practices and your work will directly impact TELUS' ability to make informed decisions, foster accountability, and drive continuous improvement for sustained success in a rapidly evolving business landscape.

 

What you’ll do

 

As a Senior Business Consultant you will be instrumental in driving comprehensive organizational transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership and communication skills, with strong capabilities in stakeholder engagement, processes assessment and redesign, implementation leadership, investments performance management and sustainability planning. You will play a crucial role in shaping the organization’s future by combining strategic thinking with operational excellence.

Here's how

 

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Alignment:
    • Support the development and the execution of the stakeholder engagement strategy that involves working closely with ELT, VPs, and Program Managers, conducting initial meetings with key business owners and leadership, facilitating workshops to create a shared vision of the transformation, and developing and maintaining a robust stakeholder communication plan
  • Current State Assessment and Future State Design: 
    • Work in partnership with external consulting firm and business owners to evaluate the current state of business processes, systems, and performance metrics and subsequently design an optimized process and structure
  • Deployment of Future State Design:
    • Support the execution of the action plan / recommendations, providing expert guidance, facilitating regular progress check-ins with business owners, and offering problem-solving support throughout the implementation process
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: 
    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure transformation success, implement real-time performance monitoring systems, and prepare and present regular progress reports to leadership
  • Risk Management: 
    • Identify potential risks to transformation initiatives, develop mitigation strategies with business owners, and continuously monitor and manage these risks throughout the transformation process
  • Sustainability Planning and Continuous Improvement: 
    • Collaborate with business owners to embed new practices into daily operations, develop long-term sustainability plans, and ensure knowledge transfer to internal teams, while facilitating regular review sessions to identify optimization opportunities, gather feedback, and iterate on transformation plans based on lessons learned and new insights

 

 

Qualifications

 

What you bring

 

  • Valued for your 7+ years of experience in a Management Consulting, Corporate Strategy, or Business Transformation setting
  • Proven track record in evaluating and optimizing ROIC within the context of broader business planning, coupled with a deep understanding of the interplay between business planning, investment performance metrics, and ROIC
  • Respected for your ability to manage complex financial evaluations and provide data-driven actionable recommendations that align with strategic business plans
  • Talented in navigating complex organizational dynamics and connecting the dots across teams to deliver on goals
  • Skilled in using a range of tools to collect, organize, interpret and summarize data, identifying trends and patterns to inform strategy
  • Respected for your strong analytical skills and ability to translate a wide range of information and data into clear, easy to understand insights, and making strategic decisions
  • Commended for your solid business acumen and results-oriented approach who can influence and build strong business partner relationships; including working with and advising senior executives
  • Poised and confident in engaging with and presenting to all levels of management, including clearly articulating concepts and recommendations
  • Embrace agile thinking and ways of working to be flexible and adaptable
  • Demonstrate a “can-do” attitude that fosters a positive productive working environment, especially in stressful or pressured situations
  • Be flexible, organized, and open to feedback with excellent follow-through skills
  • Work effectively as part of a team and independently to meet agreed-upon deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics or relatable degree / equivalent experience, MBA preferred

 

 

Salary Range:  $94,000-$142,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
