As part of our Video and Digital Home team, you will be at the helm of supporting a plethora of home and TV/media platforms and features using Agile development processes. This team is a part of our Future Friendly Home Services DevOps team, which is responsible for the end-to-end technology development and operations of TELUS’ Optik TV services, video and over-the-top services, broadband network capabilities, smart home solutions, and software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solutions.  This is an exciting time to be a part of our mission to drive better outcomes through state-of-the- art software platforms. The possibilities are endless and we’re looking for a software enthusiast and self-starter who is filled with ideas as well as the delivery-focused mindset to execute them!


Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together

  • You will develop and maintain a security architecture process that enables the enterprise to develop and implement security solutions and capabilities that are clearly aligned with business, technology and threat drivers.
  • Develop security strategy plans and roadmaps based on sound enterprise architecture practices
  • Develop and maintain security architecture artifacts (e.g., models, templates, standards and procedures) that can be used to leverage security capabilities in projects and operations
  • Determine baseline security configuration standards for operating systems (e.g., OS hardening), network segmentation and identity and access management (IAM)
  • Develop standards and practices for data encryption and tokenization in the organization, based on the organization's data classification criteria
  • Draft security procedures and standards to be reviewed and approved by executive management
  • Track developments and changes in the digital business and threat environments to ensure that they're adequately addressed in security strategy plans and architecture artifacts
  • Validate IT infrastructure and other reference architectures for security best practices and recommend changes to enhance security and reduce risks, where applicable
  • Validate security configurations and access to security infrastructure tools, including firewalls, IPSs, WAFs and anti-malware/endpoint protection systems
  • Conduct or facilitate threat modeling of services and applications that tie to the risk and data associated with the service or application
  • Ensure a complete, accurate and valid inventory of all systems, infrastructure and applications that should be logged by the security information and event management (SIEM) or log management tool
  • Coordinate with DevOps teams to advocate secure coding practices
  • Coordinate with the privacy officer or office to document data flows of sensitive information in the organization (e.g., PII or ePHI) and recommend controls to ensure that this data is adequately secured (e.g., encryption and tokenization)
  • Review network segmentation to ensure least privilege for network access
  • Participate in application and infrastructure projects to provide security-planning advice
  • Liaise with the internal audit (IA) team to review and evaluate the design and operational effectiveness of security-related controls
  • Responsible for End to End security maintenance and security testing of cloud infrastructure

Qualifications

You’re the missing piece of the puzzle

  • Broad and general experience in using Enterprise architecture, cloud security architecture
  • Direct, hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of managing security infrastructure — e.g. firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPSs), web application firewalls (WAFs), endpoint protection, SIEM and log management technology
  • Experience securing CI/CD pipelines, hands on using securing GKE and CI/CD on GCP
  • Documented experience and a strong working knowledge of the methodologies to conduct threat-modeling exercises on new applications and services
  • Experience designing the deployment of applications and infrastructure into public cloud services
  • Full-stack knowledge of IT infrastructure: Applications, Databases, Operating Systems, IP networks — WAN and LAN, Containers/Kubernetes
  • Direct experience designing IAM technologies and services: Active Directory, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) , IAM on cloud
  • Broad knowledge of GCP
  • Broad knowledge of IAM and SSO platforms (Okta, oAuth, etc.,)
  • Good understanding of regulations, standards and frameworks 
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity or a related field
  • CCSK , CCNP, CISSP, AWS / GCP security certification (assets)
