What you bring

As a Senior People & Culture Advisor, you will provide subject matter expertise to drive compliance with provincial pay equity legislation and oversee the implementation of a job evaluation system at TELUS. Through our organization-wide transformational compensation project you will help us achieve compliance and pay transparency for our Provincially regulated lines of business.

Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together!

Working as a trusted partner to the People & Culture (P&C) team, you will consult and advise on compensation programs and initiatives. You will also look to solve a diverse set of problems where the analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. The P&C team as well as senior leaders in the organization depend on our team to provide guidance on internal and external market trends and compensation legislation, and we help empower leaders to effectively attract and retain new team members in alignment with the TELUS strategy.

Here's how

  • Drive compliance with provincial pay equity legislation (Ontario and Quebec), with your subject matter expertise, experience in setting up committees and project management skills
  • Lead on pay equity and compensation projects through various stages from initial assessment, building project plans, stakeholder engagement, executive presentations and leading the business through implementation
  • Support job evaluation and analysis for our different provincial entities and lines of business
  • Support the smooth integration of acquired organizations by conducting thorough analysis of the business case impacts and alignment with TELUS Total Rewards strategy, in liaison with our M&A,  Benefits teams and Compensation Consultants
  • Act as a trusted advisor to P&C partners in identifying pay equity related and other compensation concerns, recommend solutions and provide guidance to drive compliance, support education and training efforts relating to pay equity
  • Work closely with P&C partners to support the adherence of pay equity legislation, awareness and training initiatives and recommend streamlined policies and processes relating to pay equity and compensation
  • Develop and revise pay equity/compensation training programs for all relevant team members and various hierarchies at TELUS
  • Prepare reports, analysis and presentations for senior leaders: outlining results, trends and costing. Manage a project budget, resources and meet deadlines collaborating across various total rewards, P&C teams and lines of business
  • Documenting processes, policies and creating procedures that support pay equity and compensation practices
  • Act as the key contact for Pay equity commissions on filing, signing documents  and resolution of issues

You’re the missing piece of the puzzle...

  • Exceptional project management skills: the ability to plan multiple projects from planning through to implementation, communicating with stakeholders and trouble-shooting any issues
  • A problem-solving mindset: the fundamentals of defining a problem, conducting thorough analysis, and building clear recommendations
  • Strong communication skills: clear, concise and influential in all aspects of communication
  • Sound analytical skills: ability to decipher moderately complex data sets and deliver recommendations and insights
  • Robust decision-making skills: grounded in data over gut instinct
  • Effective collaboration skills: someone others actively seek out to partner with
  • An affinity for fast-paced, continuously changing, dynamic environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, SAP and G-Suite
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education
  • Progressive experience in compensation analyst/consultant or equivalent roles across a variety of industries
  • A solid understanding of pay equity legislation with a proven ability to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Hold or working towards your CPHR/CRHA designation or equivalent
  • Hold or working towards your CCP designation
  • Bilingual (written and conversational English and French)
