We are seeking a dynamic, experienced real estate lawyer to join our TLRA Real Estate, Environment & Sustainability team as Senior Counsel. 

 

Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, you will serve as strategic advisor and trusted business partner on TELUS’ wireless/wireline real estate and retail leasing portfolios across Canada, as well as Quebec-based corporate real estate leasing, acquisition, disposition and development portfolios. 

 

You will be an integral part of a tight-knit, supportive team (with flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in Canada) and collaborate closely with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders in driving positive business outcomes.

 

 

 

You’re the missing piece of the puzzle

 

Must haves

 

  • 7+ years of relevant post-call experience in private practice and/or in-house 
  • Expertise in commercial real estate law, with proven ability to lead and negotiate complex transactions with multifunctional teams 
  • Bilingual (English/French) member in good standing with a Canadian Law Society 
  • Strong knowledge of both Canadian civil law and common law 
  • Successful track record of independently managing a high volume of competing priorities in a timely and effective manner and delivering on commitments in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Experience driving innovative approaches and continuous process improvements 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to tell the story to technical and non-technical audience at all levels including senior executives 
  • Proven ability to build trust and robust relationships with key stakeholders by cultivating a deep understanding of their business and providing proactive, solution-oriented advice

 

Great to haves

 

  • Member of Quebec Bar and/or joint degrees in civil law and common law 
  • Experience with telecommunications industry 
  • Experience managing external counsel across different jurisdictions and ensuring high-quality services and cost-effectiveness

Salary Range:  $130,000-$194,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  30%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
