You’ll provide vision and strategic guidance to evolve from common static analysis to dynamic machine learning deployments, as well as expand our teams’ access to deep insights that improve the customer experience. You’ll work with a talented team of Data Scientists and other professionals to manage TELUS’ data platforms and offer the best possible analytics experience to internal stakeholders using the data. And finally, as a trusted advisor and partner, you’ll collaborate across various business units to accelerate the transformation of our platforms, improve the customer and team member experience, and drive business efficiencies.

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Build and maintain scalable data infrastructure that offers a best-in-class experience for internal stakeholders including consistent extraction of value from the data
  • Drive data ingestion and processing in innovative ways that inform strategic priorities and decision-making across the organization
  • Foster continuous systems transformation as we migrate infrastructure and applications to Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Build expertise in the team to expose efficiency insights across data platforms in the cloud
  • Manage our cloud data analytics platform priorities to make sure data security and privacy are top considerations
  • Implement automation and monitoring tools through a test-driven approach and mindset
  • Drive the adoption of new cloud technologies to further advance TELUS’ data transformation strategy

Qualifications

 

What you bring

 

  • You are recognized for your 8+ years of experience of IT platform implementation in a technical capacity
  • You are sought out for your 5+ years’ experience of data warehouses/cloud architectures and platforms implementation with experience implementing and performance tuning
  • An expert understanding of data warehouses/cloud architectures and ETL processes
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases and query authoring (SQL), as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
  • Experience with cloud platforms: GCP, Amazon or Azure (GCP gives you an edge!)
  • Experience with Python and software engineering best practices
  • Advanced knowledge in Dataflow, Spark and Kafka, as well as other data pipeline components
  • Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools such as Airflow
  • Experience with Github and CICD processes
  • Having a proven track record in leading data analytics platform projects
  • Ready to work in new and challenging work environments

Great-to-haves

 

  • Post-graduate education in Data Engineering, Cloud DevOps or Advanced Analytics
  • Machine learning and data science knowledge
  • Experience with Java in Cloud
