The latest emerging open interfaces and virtualizes RAN (Radio Access Network) technology, brings with it an exciting opportunity for TELUS to build a new open and cloud-based RAN network. We are embracing disruption, reimagining network services capabilities, and driving innovation to accelerate new Cloud RAN technology adoption.


Introducing our new Cloud RAN Infrastructure DevOps team which will oversee the development and operations of next GEN 5G Cloud RAN/Open RAN technology from hardware to software on the TELUS wireless network. 


Can you envision yourself working with TELUS Chief Technology Office, stakeholders and vendors, with a key focus on Cloud RAN infrastructure (Cloud) technology design, development and production technical issue investigation support? If so, this challenging yet exciting opportunity for Cloud infrastructure design and technology development on all layers, such as from COTS platform to Cloud OS for Cloud RAN deployment, could be your calling.


What you’ll do


  • Conduct Cloud Infrastructure Life Cycle Management, including COTS hardware components, and HW components (i.e. Accelerator card), CaaS (i.e. K8S), as well as vDU/vCU SW
  • Introduce new technology on Kubernetes Container based on TELUS vRAN/vCU/vDU virtualization strategies
  • Interact and influence vendors’ Cloud Infrastructure roadmap to align with TELUS Cloud RAN network evolution 
  • Validate Cloud Infrastructure technical requirements to industry/TELUS standards and the functional and performance requirements by supporting interoperability with other systems, to achieve best performance, high reliability and scalability
  • Support system level issue troubleshooting and integration with radio workloads and RAN functions



What you bring


  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience with RAN virtualization solutions - vRAN/vCU/vDU design or development in wireless networks
  • Detailed understanding of managing VM and container/Kubernetes environments
  • Document best practices in developing and deploying Openstack/Kubernetes solution, i.e. WindRiver/Robin io/Openshift, etc
  • Detailed understanding of virtual switches, network connections, virtual port types (ie: SR-IOV, VirtIO), Security Groups, VLANs and in configuring Storage such as SAN / NAS / iSCSI
  • Experience in performance measurement & tuning of Cloud servers and Virtual sessions and management of servers resources between virtual machines
  • Detailed understanding in taking snapshots, backup and recovery of Virtual machines/Container
  • Detailed understanding in configuring Storage such as SAN / NAS / iSCSI, and NIC card; good knowledge on RAN Accelerator card
  • Experience in Cloud based Automation & Orchestration frameworks and flows
  • Detailed understanding in managing HA environments in the cloud within and across telecom data centers
  • Good exposure towards public (Google, AWS, Azure) and private / on-prime cloud installation and configuration
  • Working experience with vendors like HPE, Dell, Cisco etc., with broad knowledge and understanding of various hardware technologies (Blade servers, Rack Servers, UCS etc.)
  • Deep dive troubleshooting experience using command-line tools and scripts
  • Understanding of 3GPP systems: RAN and Core networks, architecture and protocols
  • Ability to provide on demand, specialized the technical solution of a number of wide ranging problems and to interact with others including on a proactive manner 
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or an equivalent




  • IP transport, E2E service assurance experience 
  • Knowledge on Open RAN Alliance standard and architecture (O-RU/O-DU/O-CU, SMO/RIC
