What you'll do
As a Senior Design Specialist, you will play a key role across the technology introduction lifecycle, from vendor engagement and lab validation through field trials and production rollout.
- Lead the launch and introduction of LTE, 5G, and next gen RAN hardware, software, and features into the TELUS network.
- Apply a Reliability by Design mindset across planning, validation, deployment, and operational readiness phases.
- Translate technical LTE/5G concepts into clear business impacts and vice versa to support Go to Market alignment.
- Evaluate vendor roadmaps, clarify TELUS requirements, and influence product functionality and direction.
- Analyze early phase performance impacts of new technology trials to validate expected behavior and customer experience.
- Conduct targeted performance assessments during lab and field trials to ensure smooth transition into operational teams.
- Support field teams during new technology deployment, troubleshooting, and early rollout stages.
- Provide specialized technical guidance and expertise to engineering teams across the organization.
- Communicate technical decisions and their implications clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Drive automation initiatives to scale testing efficiency and improve technology readiness validation.
- Champion the adoption of AI/ML techniques to enhance technology validation, prediction, and readiness assessments.
What you bring
Technical Expertise
- 7+ years of experience with LTE/5G RF design, optimization, and performance analysis.
- Strong understanding of next generation network evolution including small cells, AI/ML applications, network slicing, and cloud native architectures.
- Familiarity with 3GPP specifications, RRM, air-interface protocols, and interoperability standards.
- Experience writing test plans, gathering requirements, and documenting technical findings.
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics in a clear, business relevant way.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including proactive vendor engagement.
- Ability to provide specialized technical support across a wide range of wireless engineering challenges.
- Deep familiarity with wireless troubleshooting workflows and technology readiness assessment processes
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or equivalent
Great-to-Haves
- Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in AI, automation frameworks, and large language models (LLMs)
