We are hiring a full-time, temporary Senior Graphic Designer to backfill a maternity leave on our Design & Copywriting team in TELUS Studios -- TELUS’ own in-house creative production team.

 

TELUS Studios partners with various TELUS teams across the business and around the globe to concept, create, pitch, and deliver content for both internal and external audiences. In this role, you’ll lead art and creative design processes for marketing and communications activities, from visualization to final execution and client presentation, mastering multiple platforms and media. To be successful, you’ll have strong opinions on design and art direction, a strong grasp of static and motion design principles, their practical applications and the ability to coach those in others, a strong understanding of social media formats and audiences, and a love of representing and pitching your ideas to clients and leaders to get buy in.

 

Reporting to the Manager, TELUS Studios – Design & Copywriting, you will be part of a team of professionals who are restless in their search for new ways to engage audiences. You think strategically about how your work fits into the context of the brand. You’re eager to “question the brief” in terms of how it achieves the client’s needs as well as the needs of the business and the demands of the brand. You deliver on the request, but also propose alternative solutions.

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Lead the creation of graphic assets from ideation to delivery
  • Push the boundaries for what is possible using different formats 
  • Articulate design decisions and rationale to stakeholders at all levels
  • Manage creative assets and ensure they are archived and up to date
  • Keep on top of design trends, and share your knowledge and learnings with others
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively while taking direction from others
  • Coach other designers on their work or on executing on your own concepts
  • Work closely with the rest of the TELUS Studios team in the development of motion deliverables

 

 

Qualifications

 

What you bring: 

 

  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, familiarity with Figma and an eagerness to learn new tools
  • Relevant experience producing creative for ad campaigns, social media campaigns, promotions, events, whitepapers/reports, sales tools and point of purchase material
  • Demonstrated ability to think quickly and creatively without compromising on quality – must thrive in bursts of intense focused work 
  • Understanding of design principles and the application of brand guidelines
  • Exceptional eye for aesthetics
  • Strong attention to detail as well as written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in French an asset
  • Knowledge or experience in UX, UI, motion or app design an asset
  • At least 5 years industry experience
  • A diploma or degree in graphic design or equivalent
  • A current online portfolio that demonstrates strong aesthetics and design principles
  • Agency experience an asset
  • Experience directing or participating in a photo shoot, with portrait or product photo retouching skills an asset

 

 

Salary Range:  $86,000-$130,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
