We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join the Product Engineering team at Collaborative Health! You’ll be enabling customer-first experiences for physician and clinician clients using TELUS Collaborative Health Record globally. You are an advocate for automation and love getting hands on to streamline processes and ensure reliability in order to deliver new and existing products and services to our growing client base! 

NOTE: This role is remote but must be based in Canada, preferably in EST 

What you'll do

 

  • Investigate, architect, plan and provision medium and large cloud based systems individually or with teammates
  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments and drive best practices in release management
  • Respond to and investigate alerts to issues with our products and continuously improve our technical infrastructure including resource consumption and cost optimization
  • Work on non-production and production environments handling monitoring, data collection and configuration management, as well as disaster recovery planning, capacity engineering, reliability improvement initiatives and platform automation
  • Play with cutting edge technology for monitoring and maintaining the day to day operations of the entire production infrastructure on our GCP platform
  • Develop and implement Cloud operational best practices including: scaling applications, monitoring distributed systems and applications in a microservice architecture environment 
  • Support cloud operations to enhance, improve and maintain capabilities across the global technical landscape
  • Collaborate with product engineering team members  to assess and establish required automations, tools, and patterns to support business objectives
  • Create and improve documents and presentations to educate teams on DevOps patterns and best practices
  • Diagnose & troubleshoot user facing service incidents and outages across different levels of the solution stack
  • Sharing insight into industry trends and influence changes in our environment (technology, methods and tooling)
     

What you bring

 

  • 6+ years experience as a Software Developer, with progression into a DevOps Engineering role 
  • 3+ years experience with containerization and orchestration technologies in a microservices architecture environment (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience monitoring cloud services with Datadog
  • Proven development experience with Ruby on Rails, Python, Shell scripting, JS or similar languages and proficiency with investigating logs, error reports to identify coding issues 
  • Familiarity with software engineering tools, software development methodology (SCRUM), and release processes
  • Demonstrated  experience managing CI/CD pipelines to deliver applications on cloud infrastructure such as GCP,  AWS or Azure (we use GCP)
  • Determination to use your creativity, drive, and grit to solve technical challenges that have a meaningful impact on real human lives 
  • Academic Training or Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related development field or practical work experience
  • Knowledge of best practices related to code branching, build, testing and release.
  • Diagnosing, resolving problems in high-throughput web applications & network services
  • Solid understanding of application clustering / load balancing concepts and technologies
  • Experience monitoring and troubleshooting PostgreSQL databases
  • Expertise with the following tools/technologies: GitHub,Terraform, Helm, Ansible
  • Working experience with JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow or other ITIL workflow engines
  • Enthusiasm to work on-call as part of a team

 

 

Nice to haves

 

  • Cloud and Application Security expertise (GCP preferred, AWS or Azure) 
  • Experience with developing serverless architecture in GCP/AWS. 
  • Bilingual (English and French)
  • Avid user of Slack emojis and gifs
  • An insatiable appetite for modern and emerging technologies and tools
