As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will be an integral part of the Finance team supporting the Home Solutions & Customer Experience Business Unit, specifically on our Wireline Revenue team. This role will support Revenue reporting and revenue-impacting projects across the portfolio.
Each day, this multi-faceted opportunity will keep you on your toes while tackling revenue-impacting initiatives in collaboration with our partners in marketing, corporate accounting policy, strategy and enablement, and others.
At the core of your talents is your innate ability to transform business initiatives into a set of business requirements that will allow us to report our revenue accurately and compliant with accounting policies while collaborating with stakeholders to drive the project to completion.
What you’ll do
- Lead and manage multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously as the key prime for the WLN Revenue Accounting team for all projects that impact Revenues (new offers, program changes, IFRS15 impacts, system changes)
- Work alongside various teams to ensure accuracy of revenue flows from the billing engines to the income statement, to ensure the results are held to the highest of accounting standards, and to provide insight into the trends and drivers of those results
- Use your technical understanding and experience with various systems (billing systems, financial gateway, SAP, etc.) to assess how the project will impact revenue flow (writing business requirements, participating in design discussions)
- Use your technical and accounting knowledge to lead user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure revenue flows continue to be in accordance with accounting policies
- Use your accounting background and strong understanding of revenue recognition policy to identify issues, interpret and apply accounting policies, and influence non-finance teams on the financial implications of business decisions
- Assist in developing and executing on new processes, including billing and reporting of new product introduction and establishing new GL reconciliations and sub-ledgers as required
- Collaborate with various stakeholders across the entire TELUS organization to ensure Revenue Accounting requirements are met
- Provide thought leadership in solving problems and develop effective processes and governance
- Focus on the big picture and strategy while effectively managing diverse, dynamic, competing priorities in leading ongoing project accountabilities
Qualifications
What you bring
- Completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA)
- A deep understanding of GAAP and IFRS, specifically the revenue recognition policy
- Strong project management, process, and design management skills
- Critical thinking skills for business planning and/or problem analysis and resolution
- Strong decision-making based on best practice, financial and economic analysis
- Skillful in managing competing priorities and adapting to ambiguous situations
- Regarded as an exceptional communicator, influencer and negotiator, able to build and maintain effective partnerships internally and externally with all stakeholders, including senior leaders
- Sought out for your ability to analyze and translate facts, data and intelligence into key insights, concepts and recommendations
- Noted as having strong business and financial acumen
- A reputation for project execution excellence and achieving results in a complex environment
- Known for your collaborative spirit and ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment and build good working relationships to influence others at all levels of the organization
