Position Overview:

We are looking for a strong backend end Java developer to work on an industry leading OCP application and modernize our existing reporting application. Our team is part of a larger TELUS Health team located in multiple locations across Canada and all having varying skills and responsibilities. TELUS is a corporation that focuses on Customers First and Employee Engagement. The position allows for a flexible work schedule with the opportunity to work remotely based on alignment and agreement with your manager and alignment to TELUS policies. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, self-motivated, and work well in a team environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Passionate about process improvement and change management
  • Expert at analyzing requirements, writing designs and providing solutions that meet business objectives
  • Known for writing quality code and thoroughly unit testing all changes to the system
  • Experience with managing multiple environments for build and release
  • Knack for evaluating existing complex systems and identifying areas of improvement; this includes improved code re-use, efficiency and SQL tuning
  • Ability to follow an agile methodology, including effective communication with remote team members, BAs, PMs and QA staff
  • Fully participate in the ownership of your services and components, including on-call duties

 

Qualifications

 

Required Knowledge:

  • Excellent knowledge of C#, Java 1.8 or newer, Spring/Spring Boot, Container based technologies (Docker, OCP), Angular 5 or above
  • Solid experience in architecting, implementing, tuning, and debugging large enterprise cloud deployments
  • 2+ years experience of software development and DevOps in a GCP cloud environment
  • 2+ years experience with CI/CD practices, tool chains such as but not limited to Jenkins, Docker, Ansible
  • 2+ years experience with GCP toolsets including Looker, Bigquery and Bigtable
  • 3 + years experience with automation programming in Python, Java or similar scripting language
  • Intermediate experience with infrastructure designing, automation and orchestration
  • Experience with Terraform and Docker
  • Familiarity with Agile software development process

Required Professional Designation/Certification:

  • Bachelor degree in a computer science related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a technical development role involving the delivery of software; and experience in IT/EC 
  • Working knowledge/experience with Jenkins
  • Background in Health Care or Health Insurance industries is an asset
