The Corporate Strategy team has a mandate to help steer the future direction of TELUS. The team plays a broad role and provides services in four areas: (1) Strategic Analysis & Foresight – keeping a pulse on and interpreting the macro-environment while identifying and recommending paths forward to keep TELUS ahead of prospective strategic challenges and opportunities; (2) Strategic Planning – designing and facilitating Executive Strategy Sessions, while managing key TELUS planning activities, such as the annual strategic planning process and Board strategy discussions; (3) Innovation – working with TELUS stakeholders to spawn, explore and develop new business ideas for the company; and (4) Special Projects – working on behalf of TELUS to lead, manage and deliver company-wide strategic initiatives.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Strategy, this position will serve as an important catalyst in enriching the strategic thinking, broadening the skill set, and augmenting the experience of the team. You are a big picture thinker with a creative mindset who can see, generate and implement concrete ideas that transcend conventional boundaries and help position TELUS for long-term success. Building upon your 5+ years in corporate strategy roles, you will work collaboratively across the company to synthesize ideas and information and convert them into meaningful insights and plans. As part of these duties, you will analyze and interpret financial information and may lead or contribute to the development of financial models to enable effective strategic decision making. You will also translate plans by identifying the resources, tools and processes needed to execute them successfully. You will help drive change and are willing to take calculated risks, while maintaining resilience and enthusiasm as TELUS journeys through a period of significant evolution.
Here's how


  • Lead qualitative and quantitative analysis of a diverse array of strategic issues, including new market/technology opportunities, environmental scans, scenarios and conducting strategic reviews of TELUS and competitor capabilities, assets, business models, product/service offerings and financials
  • Present findings, options and recommendations – in oral and written formats – to key stakeholders, including Executives and Senior Leaders, while astutely reading and influencing audience perceptions
  • Collaborate with teams across TELUS in the development of strategy content and reports for the Board of Directors and Executive
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of ideation sessions and workshops; develop content and shape the design of Executive strategy sessions
  • Forge relationships across and outside the organization; secure data/information, ideas and perspectives from across TELUS business units and third-parties to help develop comprehensive and thoughtful plans, presentations and reports
  • Build and proactively manage project plans, while effectively engaging and communicating with key stakeholders throughout




You're the missing piece of the puzzle 


  • Strategy Formulation & Implementation: significant experience in strategy development and strategic analysis; some experience with foresight methodologies, as well as very strong research and qualitative/quantitative analysis skills; experience building and working with financial models; experience translating concepts and ideas into capability, resource and product/service requirements.
  • Operating Effectively in Ambiguity: significant experience working on projects with limited information and ambiguous expected outcomes; experience guiding team members and stakeholders through ambiguity.
  • Creative & Entrepreneurial Mindset: demonstrated experience in generating creative ideas to solve business problems; aptitude for experimenting with new ways of carrying out work and solving problems while pre-thinking anticipated outcomes and associated indicators of success.
  • Business Presentation Skills: strong business presentation skills with the ability to write and verbally present strategic recommendations confidently in a clear, concise and compelling manner; strong ability to adapt presentation styles to a diverse set of audiences.
  • Effective Project Management: experience managing multiple large and high-visibility deliverables, often simultaneously, while anticipating, communicating and proactively managing next steps; experience briefing stakeholders on risks, resources and timelines required to attain successful project completion.
  • Change Management: demonstrated experience effectively leading and managing change.
  • Facilitation Skills: aptitude for actively listening and engaging stakeholders in insightful discussions, identifying commonalities and differences while actively connecting dots.
