The TELUS Smart Transportation Solutions (STS) team has embarked on a journey to disrupt the transportation experience for a safer and greener future. Working within the TELUS Business Solutions organization, the STS product team works across the organization to grow a portfolio of transportation solutions.

 

We are looking for a highly motivated and results-driven individual to join the STS team as a Senior Technical Product Manager. This is an exciting role where you will apply your experience in IoT and/or 5G product management to strategize, orchestrate, and execute on initiatives to improve Smart Transportation product profitability and value chain experience. We are looking for someone who enjoys relationship-building with stakeholders, has a bias for action, believes that leading through change and ambiguity is motivating and has a firm sense of accountability with a growth mindset.

What you’ll do

 

Reporting to the Manager of the STS product team, the Senior Technical Product Manager brings an action-oriented mindset that sees the big picture in their work and executes effectively and efficiently. Bringing a proven ability to execute, coupled with an excitement to take on new, ambiguous challenges that will be industry-defining is vital for this role.The Senior Technical Product Manager, reporting to the STS product team Manager, is an action-oriented individual who understands the broader context of their work and executes with efficiency and effectiveness. This role is crucial for someone who can demonstrate a track record of execution and an enthusiasm for tackling new, ambiguous challenges that will shape the industry.

 

As a Senior Technical Product Manager in the TELUS Smart Transportation Solutions team, you will work within a product management team to expand and operationalize a portfolio of transportation solutions. You will bridge the technical and business worlds, engaging with and getting buy-in from diverse stakeholders and partners, both internally and externally, on the product roadmap. You will build and manage ongoing business cases, value chain, forecasts, as well as project schedules to ensure business continuity and product leadership.

 

The Senior Technical Product Manager challenges the status quo. Working with others, the Senior Technical Product Manager responsibilities will include:

Strategic Product Development & Oversight:

  • Market Expertise: Act as a subject matter expert by continuously monitoring industry trends, competitor products, vendor offerings, emerging technologies, and relevant standards
  • Roadmap Definition: Develop and refine the product roadmap and service architecture, integrating market research, product design insights, comprehensive documentation, engineering collaboration, and financial considerations
  • Business Case Advocacy: Create, manage, present, and champion compelling business cases for the product roadmap to all organizational levels
  • Portfolio Strategy: Contribute to the strategic design and development of the product portfolio
  • Scalable Product Development: Collaborate with other technical product owners, engineering and service introduction teams to ensure products are developed with a strong emphasis on operational scalability

 

Project Management & Collaboration:

 

  • Project Planning & Communication: Establish, maintain, and effectively communicate project plans and schedules for new product development initiatives to internal and external stakeholders
  • Partnership Cultivation: Develop and nurture strategic partnerships and relationships with a diverse range of vendors, industry organizations and transportation leaders to enrich product offerings

 

Innovation & User Experience:

 

  • Rapid Prototyping & Market Research: Conduct rapid prototyping to gather user feedback and undertake thorough market research to anticipate competitor moves and identify new opportunities within the smart transportation sector
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Analyze user data to inform product decisions and optimize the overall user experience

 

 

Qualifications

 

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager, ideally from the tech industry, who possesses a strong foundation in the following areas:

 

  • Product Management Expertise: First-hand experience in managing IoT and/or 5G technologies, particularly in new portfolios and emerging tech. Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling products
  • Technical Acumen: A solid technical background with the ability to comprehend and articulate complex technological concepts
  • Development Methodologies: Experience with agile development methodologies and comprehensive product lifecycle management
  • Analytical & Data-Driven: Renowned analytical skills, a data-driven approach to decision-making, and a bias for action
  • Strategic Vision: Recognized for effective communication and execution of strategic visions for long-term product roadmaps
  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

 

Great-to-haves:

 

We are particularly interested in candidates with one or more of the following qualifications:

 

  • Industry Experience: Experience with smart transportation, smart city technologies, or within the ICT/telecom industry
  • New Product Development: Experience with both in-house and resell technologies for new product portfolio development
  • Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of IoT platforms, AI/ML applications, and cloud services
  • Certifications: PMP Certification or Agile Product Management Certification
  • Advanced Education: Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent experience, or a Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in French and English

 

This role offers a remote/hybrid capacity, allowing work from in or near any major Canadian center.

 

 

Salary Range:  $106,000-$158,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits such as:
