We’re a customer-driven and product-minded team within TELUS, responsible for our company’s digital evolution. The Digital Product Strategy & Transformation team builds smart, customer-centric and data-driven experiences for telus.com, TELUS.com/business and the My TELUS web and app spanning acquisition as well as cost reduction opportunities.
Within the Connectivity, Digital & MarComm organization, the team Digital Product Strategy is responsible for owning, developing and defending TELUS’ 3 digital products- telus.com, MyTELUS and MyTELUS app. Our team is a critical contributor to achieving higher product intensity, increased revenue opportunities, improved operational expenses, market differentiation and enabling mobile or app centered customer experiences. Cross functional collaboration is central to the work we do, as our team is responsible for prioritizing and triaging work from Marketing or Products & Services to our Technology development teams. The team includes a passionate group of strategists, product owners, UX and visual designers, content strategists and managers, testers, researchers and other digital experts.
What we'll accomplish together
We are looking for a Senior UX Designer to join our dynamic team and contribute to building seamless, customer-centered digital experiences for TELUS customers. As a senior designer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create high-impact designs that elevate our eCommerce platforms and product pages. You’ll advocate for design quality, accessibility, and the TELUS brand, while mentoring and guiding junior designers in best practices.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in UX and visual design with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
What you will do
- Design Leadership: As a senior UX designer you will have the opportunity to contribute to TELUS wide design rituals, such as reviews, design community engagement, design system contributions. You will also provide Design Leadership for projects and/or your team. Leading by example in your own work, ensuring design processes are aligned to and working with a strategic focus through mentorship with L5 Staff design members
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with product owners, UX research, UX designers, content strategists, product managers, and developers to translate customer insights and business objectives into creative design solutions
- User-Centered Design: Apply user-centered design processes, human factors, usability heuristics, and accessibility standards to craft user interfaces across all screen sizes and types
- Design Artifacts: Generate lo-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual designs and design documentation to communicate design solutions and ideas effectively for user testing, stakeholder approval, quality assurance testing and development team members
- Mentorship: Support the growth of the Digital Product Strategy & Transformation design team by mentoring junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment, and advocating for best practices to leadership and stakeholders
- Customer Journey Mapping: Lead customer journey mapping, exploratory design studios, and other collaborative workshops to refine and innovate designs
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and contribute to the continuous improvement of our universal design system, ensuring it evolves with changing user needs
- Stakeholder Engagement: Present design solutions and recommendations to senior leadership, gathering feedback and iterating on designs to ensure alignment with business and customer needs
Qualifications
What you bring:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in UX Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field, or equivalent work experience 5-8 years of experience in UX and visual design, with a proven track record of delivering user-focused digital products
- Technical Expertise: Proficient in user-centered design (UCD), strong understanding of information architecture (IA), interaction design, and prototyping. Expertise in Figma, Figjam, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools
- Responsive Design & Accessibility: Strong understanding of responsive design principles and accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), ensuring products are inclusive and usable for all
- Collaboration & Communication: Ability to articulate design decisions, build consensus, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and other designers
- Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to design solutions that balance user needs, technical constraints, and business goals
- Leadership & Mentorship: Experience mentoring junior designers, providing feedback, setting expectations and fostering a culture of learning and career growth
Great to have:
- Front-End Development Knowledge: Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content management systems to facilitate seamless collaboration with developers
- User Research & Testing: Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and applying insights to improve design outcomes
- Branding & Visual Identity: Familiarity with brand identity systems and the ability to design within the framework of a design system
- Agile & Lean Methodologies: Experience working in agile and lean environments, thriving in fast-paced and iterative design processes
