Our Corporate Communications team is looking for an experienced, exceptional copywriter to help shape and craft the TELUS story. This is a senior level position reporting into a director of communications and will support the creation of strategic, compelling content for our shareholder disclosure reports and quarterly results communications.

Working alongside a talented team of communications professionals, you will be the lynchpin that connects investor relations, finance, legal, marketing, and people and culture, to leverage our shareholder and disclosure reports to share the incredible, transformational impact of TELUS’ business results and the ways in which they enable us to give back to the communities in which we live and serve.

You will help build and support an inspiring, modernized shareholder communications strategy that engages and meets the needs of our shareholders, customers and team members and one that contemplates our ever-increasing digital world. You will join a collaborative and innovative team, open to new ideas and committed to delivering excellence.


Here’s what you’ll do:


  • Quarterly earnings
    • Partnering with investor and media relations, support the development of our corporate messaging, quarterly press releases, executive speaking notes and briefing materials
    • With a focus on consistency, work with internal stakeholders to amplify across internal channels
  • Annual report, information circular, sustainability and ESG report
    • Partnering with the project teams, craft compelling, consistent prose across all reports and shareholder communications that differentiates TELUS and reinforces our masterbrand messaging
    • Support the development and delivery of a holistic content strategy to integrate and amplify our corporate messages across the entirety of our shareholder communications vehicles, including but not limited to, leveraging content from our reports to bolster executive visibility and external thought leadership
    • Support the creation of the creative theme and design of existing communications and reports - influenced by the messaging and stories we have to tell
  • Identify and execute on new content opportunities - developing and sourcing content, coordinating and aligning activities to deliver a cohesive and compelling story across a wide variety of audiences (internal, external, shareholders etc.)




  • Demonstrated, exceptional, engaging copywriting and editing skills, ideally within the financial sector, with the ability to think and communicate clearly and formulate a succinct point of view on complicated issues
  • Experience with the fundamentals of financial communications, including financial and business acumen, understanding of regulatory requirements, knowledge of environment, social, and governance issues and topics, and experience in corporate communications at a publicly traded company
  • Highly organized, with attention to detail and the ability to identify continuous improvements and opportunities to link projects, initiatives and programs together
  • Proactive, strategic thinker who is able to link analysis and research and insights to industry and business objectives and performance
  • Highly collaborative through all stages of a project with excellent interpersonal skills: must be able to consult, influence and negotiate with people from diverse backgrounds and levels throughout the organization in a virtual work environment
  • Works well under tight timelines, embracing change and adapting to evolving business priorities
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills by driving for action, managing complexity and generating innovative solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field or combination of related professional experience
  • 7+ years of copywriting or communications experience
  • Strong competence with Google and G-suite applications


  • Experienced speech writer 
  • Experience working in telecommunications
  • Experience working within investor relations or corporate finance related team
  • CFA, CPA or other financial designation, or graduate degree
  • Fluent in French
