We are the Future Friendly Home Services DevOps group, and we are looking for Splunk/New Relic developers to join our team! We are responsible for the end-to-end technology development and operations of TELUS’ Optik TV services, video and over-the-top services, broadband network capabilities, smart home solutions and software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solutions. As a Splunk/New Relic developer, you will help us drive a large scale digital transformation program. Here's how

  • Provide day to day support for Splunk/New Relic environments and full system life cycle
  • Extensive working experience in creating and implementing dashboards
  • Analyze highly complex business requirements; generate technical specifications to design or redesign complex software components and applications
  • Act as a technical resource expert for modeling, simulation, and analysis efforts
  • Leverage industry best practices to design, test, implement and support the solution
  • Act as the Splunk/New Relic subject matter expert in providing technical leadership in the design, development and support, and other intelligence big data analytics industry initiatives
  • Use your experience to explore a variety of machine learning, statistical analytics, and data mining techniques to improve Corporate Security’s investigative capabilities using technology to support monitoring and digital fraud investigation needs



What you bring

  • 5 or more years of hands-on experience and extensive working knowledge, training and/or certifications in Splunk Enterprise (installing, configuring, troubleshooting different Splunk components and building clusters; integrating with external services; CI/CD deployment of elements and dashboards)
  • 5 or more years of hands-on experience and extensive working knowledge of New Relic (installing agents, configuring, troubleshooting different New Relic components; configuring API keys, integrating with external services; CI/CD deployment of elements and dashboards)
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting multi-layer frontend/backend systems.
  • Proficiency in Python, SPL language, XML, HTML, CSS, JSON, Excel
  • Solid understanding of SQL scripting for querying databases (MySQL, Postgresql, Cassandra, etc.)
  • 5 or more years of hands-on experience with Linux
  • 3 or more years of hands-on experience with Cloud technologies – GCP, AWS, or Azure
  • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and underlying technologies
  • Must be self-motivated, energetic, and results-oriented and be committed to adding value to the organization
  • Highly flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities

Great to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required.
  • Deep knowledge of proxying and load balancing technologies such as HAProxy or NGINX
  • Experience in agile development practices including the ability to create CI/CD pipelines from scratch using tools such as: Jenkins, Gitlab and Github
  • Experience building positive relationships and collaborating with a variety of diverse groups and technical teams and able to translate technical concepts into easy-to-understand business language
  • A creative approach to problem solving and the ability to work independently to manage deliverables in an environment with high levels of ambiguity
