The latest emerging open interfaces and virtualizes RAN (Radio Access Network) technology, brings with it an exciting opportunity for TELUS to build a new open and cloud-based RAN network. We are embracing disruption, reimagining network services capabilities, and driving innovation to accelerate new Cloud RAN technology adoption. 

 

Introducing our new Cloud RAN Infrastructure DevOps team which will oversee the development and operations of next GEN 5G Cloud RAN/Open RAN technology from hardware to software on the TELUS wireless network. You can be a part of this journey with your focus on Cloud RAN infrastructure technology design & development and production performance optimization.

What you’ll do

 

  • Develop and maintain life cycle of Open RAN network hardware platform (O-RU) and software (RAN SW, others) and RAN features in TELUS lab, and support production trial/deployment
  • Communicate/clarify TELUS requirements to vendors and lab support teams and evaluates responses
  • Introduce RAN vendors’ new solutions to enhance RAN performance and provide best experience
  • Interact and influence vendors’ RAN technology roadmap to align with TELUS RAN network evolution
  • Monitor and optimize RAN KPIs with the primary goals of maximizing performance and customer user experience
  • Drive E2E service performance, triage issues, determine root cause, and resolve impairments in a timely manner
  • Utilize analytics tools to investigate KPIs and service SLA (service level agreements)
  • Validate technical requirements to industry/TELUS standards and the functional and performance requirements by supporting interoperability with other systems, etc
  • Support system level issue troubleshooting and integration with Cloud Infrastructure

Qualifications

 

What you bring

 

  • 5+ years’ of working knowledge on LTE/5G RF design and optimization
  • Proficient in wireless network infrastructure (macro cell, small cell), FDD/TDD, and L1/L2/L3 protocols (i.e. TCP/IP)
  • Familiar with 3GPP specifications, O-RAN Alliance requirements including air interface implementation and interface, IP synchronization (C1/C2/C3), RRM, MM, and RF, open front-haul compliance, RIC/SMO, etc
  • Experience with carrier aggregation, EN-DC, modulation, pre-coding, beamforming, fronthaul compression, DSS, Massive MIMO, etc
  • Working knowledge of LTE/5G Radio, NB/gNB DU/CU, F1 interface preferred, and Switch/FHGW (CPRI/eCPRI); Familiar with the interface and protocols to core and transport network
  • Ability and experience with analyzing and diagnosing main RF issues like dropped calls, poor coverage, handover failures, interference, etc., focusing on air interface, E2E performance, and call processing
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience performing RAN hardware & software feature lab evaluations including but not limited to proof of concept
  • Experience in writing test plans for different scenarios, collecting requirements from users
  • Experience performing production/field 4G/5G RAN network performance monitoring, evaluation and tuning parameters to optimize performance and critical KPIs
  • Experience analyzing device UE logs and developing recommendations
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or an equivalent

 

Great-to-haves

 

  • IP Networking, E2E service assurance experience 
  • Working knowledge and practice on network virtualization and Cloud deployment, including COTS servers and rack servers architecture, Linux/K8s/Container, AWS/Google/OpenShift/Wind River Cloud
