We are responsible for providing financial review and consulting services on mid-market and large enterprise customer opportunities, all the while collaborating with other TELUS stakeholders such as Channel, Product Marketing, Legal, Operations, and Sales.  We provide support and guidance on financial evaluations, contract management and deal structures for both Wireline and Wireless proposals and contracts.  We review and evaluate proposals from various perspectives: accounting/finance, tax, legal, and general business to ensure they meet TELUS’ key objectives. As well as participate in strategy reviews, and an integral part of the implementation/execution team.

The successful individual in this Senior Financial Analyst role will provide key economic support for major initiatives with primary responsibility for financial analysis, recommendations, and presentations relating to bids for Senior Management. You’ll join the Finance team in a dynamic environment in a pre-sales supporting role.  
 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Review, support, and ensure approval of all major Bids as defined by governance jurisdiction 
  • Review, support, and provide economic modeling support for Business cases as required 
  • Preparation of summary financial analysis for Bids 
  • Liaise with other financial areas in terms of Bid impacts (e.g. Taxation, Treasury, Investment management, Planning, Accounting Policy) 
  • Provide financial risk assessment on RFP terms and conditions 
  • Support other business investment initiatives as required (e.g. acquisitions, partnerships) 
  • Provide post bid economic modeling support for establishment of plans intended to track large deal performance
  • Broad business acumen 
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication and presentation skills 
  • Ability to confidently communicate with all levels in an organization 
  • Ability to formulate recommendations and provide direction and education to the project team with respect to TELUS financial policies, procedures and systems 
  • Ability to identify accounting issues, impacts and provide recommendations 
  • Self-motivated, high standards of performance with the ability to deal with complex concepts and ambiguity 
  • Strong analytic skills 
  • Strong teamwork skills with proven ability to build, maintain and utilize relationships across the Corporation 
  • Ability to translate complex financial information into a format understandable by project teams 
  • Assertive and confident 
  • Focus on continuous improvement; must be able to communicate learning’s from prior projects to improve new 

What you bring: 

 

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required 
  • Microsoft Access Database/data mining skills would be a strong asset but not required 
  • Bid pricing and cost estimate/modeling experience 
  • Project costing and control 
  • Business Degree or Bachelor's degree in Economics 
  • Demonstration of continued professional development 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technology Financial role, including a minimum of 2 years of experience in a Business Unit 

 

Nice to have

 

  • Bilingual (French/ English)
  • CFA Certification
