TELUS Health is seeking a Staff Architect to provide product level leadership for a key TELUS Health technology platform. In this role, you will be a key contributor and leader defining and guiding solutions and technology transformation that enables the business and technology goals of TELUS Health. You will be a technical leader, liaison and contributor to a highly collaborative team.

- Swiftly acquiring the business domain and technical landscape knowledge as a foundation to guiding the solutions design
- Identifying and recommending conceptual, logical and physical architectures and corresponding solution designs aligned with the enterprise architecture strategy
- Providing architectural oversight, technical guidance and coaching for highly skilled architecture and development teams as well as ensuring compliance to the solution design in the implementation of projects
- Leading systems analysis and design, system modeling, performance modeling, integration planning and technology, and component selection to ensure architectural consistency and coherence between technical and business processes
- Bridging communication between development teams, product management and business operations to ensure everyone is aligned in developing and implementing technical solutions for the business requirements
- Liaising with internal business and technical stakeholders, end users, other systems departments and/or vendors as required; involve others in problem solving, decision making and creative thinking
- Influencing Product owners to support technology advancements and reducing technical debt while implementing business features and products
- Responding to RFPs, customer security questionnaires and RFIs in collaboration with various business, technical and security teams in the organization.
- Providing technical and architectural due diligence for new mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
- Supporting large customer implementations starting from presales and into implementation including presenting the high level architecture, integration points as well as all interface catalogs and specifications, supporting customer technical inquiries and leading capacity planning to support additional business.
- Leading various technical debt remediation projects including but limited to large infrastructure and middleware upgrades.
- Participating in Architecture Review Boards sessions while demonstrating an ability to assess strategic alignment, business value and technical risk.
- Collaborating with peers and various technical stakeholders to define architectural and technical guidelines and patterns that adhere to the organization’s policies and standards.
Qualifications
You're the missing piece of the puzzle
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Communication and presentation skills to work effectively and with a high degree of comfort speaking with diverse audiences including clients, senior management and external stakeholders.
- Decision making skills to assist with decisions and recommendations on various solutions that impact the projects and programs.
- Ability to design and articulate complex technical concepts into executable work packages
- Self-starter and critical thinker who is able to take ownership and thrive in an independent environment
- Key facilitator and collaborator, able to gain consensus from stakeholders
- Strong leadership skills and proven record of being a team player focused on building and coaching others.
- 10+ years of experience architecting and designing high volume, highly available, reliable and secure enterprise applications and solutions
- Experience working in private and public cloud infrastructures, with public cloud technologies and concepts (AWS, GCP or Azure)
- Working experience with progressive technologies such as HTML5, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, React, Angular.js, Node.js, .NET, Application Performance Monitoring (APM), Splunk
- Experience with API technologies, concepts and protocols; API Gateways (on premise and cloud native), JSON, REST, SOAP, XML.
- Experience working with database technologies: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, RDS, Aurora, cloud native storage solutions, etc.
- Strong knowledge of cyber security issues and technologies for authentication, encryption, authorization; privacy and data security issues and legislation
- Familiar with modern system architecture concepts and delivery processes: micro-services, container technologies (OCP, GKE), API models, Integration patterns, TDD, Agile, CI/CD (Jenkins), DevSecOps
- Working knowledge of traditional infrastructure: Unix, Windows, Oracle Database Server, Oracle WebLogic, WebMethods Integration server, MS SQL Server, hypervisor and virtualization, networking
- Awareness of standard EDI message sets (ANSI, X12, HL7, CDA, CPhA)
- Certification or knowledge with Enterprise Architecture tools and frameworks (Archimate, TOGAF, Zachmann)
- Excellent command of the English language both written and spoken
