If you thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment and are looking to contribute to a highly engaged team culture where there are ongoing opportunities to learn, then we’d love to hear from you!

What you’ll do

The Strategic Programs Director of Climate will lead the development and execution of the organization’s climate strategy, with a core focus on delivering actionable Climate Transition Plans (CTPs). This role requires a highly strategic and technically knowledgeable leader with experience navigating regulatory frameworks, sustainability reporting, risk management, and cross-sector collaboration. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enabling the organization to meet our net-zero commitment, align with the climate disclosure framework, and integrate science-based targets across business functions.

Strategic Leadership & Climate Transition Planning

  • Lead the design and implementation of the TELUS’ Climate Transition Plan, ensuring alignment with international climate goals (e.g., 1.5°C pathway, Paris Agreement)
  • Define clear interim and long-term decarbonization targets in line with science-based approaches (e.g., SBTi)
  • Integrate KPI’s into core business strategy and financial planning, working closely with the CFO, risk, and operations teams
  • Develop climate-related scenario analysis tools (e.g., NGFS, IEA scenarios) to assess transition and physical risks and opportunities
  • Embed climate risk considerations into enterprise risk management and decision-making processes
  • Work with finance and strategy teams to conduct portfolio and asset-level transition readiness assessments
  • Ensure governance structures are in place for climate oversight and delivery, including board-level accountability
  • Lead climate disclosure and reporting in accordance with TCFD, ISSB, CDP, and CSRD (as applicable)
  • Monitor, evaluate, and publicly report progress against transition milestones, adjusting strategies as needed based on new science or regulation
  • Lead reporting of climate-linked KPIs and executive compensation incentives tied to climate performance
  • Act as internal champion for climate transition, engaging cross-functional teams (procurement, operations, HR, marketing) to embed CTP into day-to-day operations
  • Engage with external stakeholders including investors, regulators, NGOs, and industry groups to ensure transparency and collaboration
  • Build trust and understanding across the organization to drive cultural change toward a low-carbon economy

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. Master’s preferred
