Our team develops and executes on TELUS’ corporate Reconciliation commitments and action plan in collaboration with business units across TELUS. Part of the Customer Network Implementation team, our team delivers on a world-class customer experience by expanding our fibre-optic infrastructure directly to homes and businesses to Indigenous communities across British Columbia and Alberta. This portfolio is on the cutting edge of innovation in the telecommunications space where TELUS is actively engaged with Indigenous communities to identify opportunities to expand broadband technology and services to areas otherwise unreachable. This is a fast-growing portfolio and one of the most strategic programs at TELUS.

With a passion for supporting Reconciliation, you will lead engagement with Indigenous communities and leaders in British Columbia and Alberta to support improved connectivity and collaborate with multiple stakeholders across TELUS to support the unique needs of Indigenous communities. As part of the team you will work with business units across TELUS to build and maintain respectful relationships with Indigenous communities in alignment with TELUS’ Reconciliation commitments and in support of our customers first brand promise.
- Build and maintain open, honest and respectful long-term relationships with Indigenous communities and leaders in British Columbia and Alberta that support a predictable and positive experience internally and externally.
- Known for your curious mind, and approach to problem solving, you’ll continually challenge the status quo by experimenting with new approaches for how TELUS can support connectivity in Indigenous communities.
- Solidify yourself internally as the trusted face of engagement with Indigenous communities in British Columbia/ Alberta, and a known, collaborative, creative, problem-solver
- Lead and partner with cross functional TELUS teams to support success of connectivity projects, including coordinating with external vendors, network planning, engineering and construction teams
- Develop communication materials, tools and templates to ensure powerful communication
- Balance numerous priorities while adapting and anticipating changes
- Create project plans and apply project management methodology to programs and initiatives, including leveraging systems and tools (i.e. Google, Microsoft, survey tools, data analysis tools) to support build execution and RGU generation.

You're the missing piece of the puzzle if you have
- Knowledge and appreciation of the unique history, cultures and rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and passion for supporting Reconciliation
- A demonstrated history of building successful relationships with Indigenous communities and experience supporting implementation of successful Infrastructure development projects with Indigenous groups
- A proven track record for consistently delivering results and effectively meeting program milestones
- A demonstrated history of bringing groups together, and collaborating with influence while navigating complex teams to gain cross-functional stakeholder buy-in
- Confidence in working with all levels of an organization, you are persuasive, attentive and have an ability to provide insight and make recommendations based on your analysis
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with experience reporting to executive and external audiences
- A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and/or experience
Great-to-haves
- 5+ years of experience engagement with Indigenous communities in British Columbia or Alberta
- Understanding of TELUS products & services
- An understanding of telecommunications network infrastructure, deployment and operations
- Proficiency with Google Suite (Slides, Docs, Drive, Hangouts etc.
