We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Business Intelligence team in Home Solutions Customer Experience.


Our team uses data & analytics to support 15k global team members across a number of internal teams. We use data from over 10 million annual customer interactions to feed our BI & Customer Feedback solutions, and  support informed decision making across our Contact Centre and Field operations teams.


You will be at the forefront as we work together to design and build the next generation BI platform based on the Google Cloud Platform using technologies and tools that will include SQL, Python, Bigquery, Looker, and Github.

Collaborating  with other technical team members, product owners, stakeholders and business leaders you will be part of a team that provides easy access to information for our internal teams. You’ll be a part of the evolution that will replace our existing Microsoft BI based solutions and transform how we use data and analytics at TELUS.


This exciting journey will further help us to meet the needs of our customers and enable exceptional team member experiences and outcomes through easy access to data.


Here's how


You will be a valuable member of the team as you;


  • Designing, developing and maintaining business intelligence solutions and documentation
  • Deploy business intelligence data products into production environments, leveraging best practices with: data monitoring, code reviews, integration testing, and release management
  • Partner with business primes to understand their business intelligence strategy and propose and implement capabilities that can achieve these outcomes
  • Be curious, stay current on top developments in cloud technology and machine learning and identify opportunities to use these approaches to drive a data centric culture

Don’t worry if you don’t yet meet every requirement below. We are looking for an experienced team member with a curious and collaborative mindset combined with solid data solution engineering skills.


Are recognized for your technical and analytical skills with experience in;


  • Analyze source data and document the requirements for BI solutions on Google Cloud Platform 
  • Assisting with design, implementation, ingestion and curation functions on Google Cloud Platform using GCP native or custom programming 
  • Planning and building semantic layer (business logic) capabilities using Big Query and/or LookML (or equivalent technologies)


You have had opportunities to leverage your;


  • Database knowledge and experience with utilizing pipelines and data marts across different database platforms
  • Strong understanding of dimensional modeling concepts – facts vs. dimensions, surrogate keys, and data granularity
  • Knowledge of SQL including writing, debugging and tuning T-SQL queries, creating SQL tables, views and stored procedures and a strong understanding of relational databases


Known for your ability to work well within a team setting;


  • Collaborating and helping fellow team members develop their technical capabilities and also being comfortable with questioning decisions and design
  • Being comfortable with working within tailored delivery methodologies based on what best suits a project and team (Agile, Kanban etc.)
  • Articulating and communicating technical approaches and information to a business orientated audience
