As the Director of Business Strategy Development, reporting to the SVP Industry Solutions, you will be responsible to support this newly created leadership team’s ability to deliver on the strategies and priorities as outlined in our business plan. 


Industry Solutions owns our emerging product portfolios built to help business owners digitally transform and overcome post-pandemic challenges. We’re focused on scaling next-generation services – including 5G and Internet of Things (IoT), Data Monetization, Cybersecurity, Mobile Edge Computing, and Collaboration Solutions – to revolutionize sectors and industries, such as Health Care, Transportation, Agriculture, Manufacturing, and Smart Cities.

This role is an influential and important role that works directly with the leadership team and other senior leaders across TELUS to ensure the team operates effectively as a business and continues to develop and deliver next-gen solutions to our customers. You will be creating strategic insights and recommendations that empower the team to make informed decisions and elevate TBS revenue and profitability. In addition, this role leads our strategic planning activities while driving key initiatives across the various Industry Solutions teams.

The Director will work closely with their peers to ensure we have the right plan, are laser focused on the key priorities of our business, and are building and maintaining a highly engaged team that is enabled to deliver on our growth agenda. You will be key in harvesting unique relationships across TELUS Business Solutions (TBS) where information can be shared and connected, creating stronger understanding and identification of our customers and our opportunities to add value.

Here's how 

  • Governance and reporting on our Strategic Programs and key initiatives
  • Establish and maintain planning processes and support key metrics reporting and planning as well as ad hoc executive reporting requirements
  • Advise and lead a cross functional team to deliver insights that enhance strategic decision making
  • Make recommendations and bring forward meaningful solutions to shape and accelerate the Industry Solutions profitability strategy for the future
  • Lead select programs focusing on improved reliability, achieving revenue and profitability growth
  • Collaborate with others across the business to ensure team engagement and recognition programs are well developed and exceptionally delivered
  • Support the leadership team with key customer and team facing events
  • Development of materials supporting executive asks and deliverables including, results analysis, strategy materials, deep dives, and other executive updates

You are likely in a similar strategic leadership position today, with many of the acumen and experience items, below:


  • Deep experience and knowledge of TELUS and experience addressing corporate-level, external-facing strategic issues
  • Prior experience in a strategy consulting firm or internal corporate strategy group
  • Respected for your strong people leadership skills and experience leading teams
  • Regarded as an exceptional communicator, influencer and negotiator, able to build and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including at the VP and above level
  • The ability to communicate complex or technical concepts and ideas in a clear, easy to understand manner to a variety of audiences including senior leaders
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills with the ability to strategize and interpret business objectives and negotiate favourable results
  • Strong business and financial acumen with strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Proven expertise in Project Management, Business Planning, Strategic Planning and Change Management
  • Demonstrated leadership in delivering on revenue and sales strategies
  • Incredible grit, drive for success, commitment to delivering on promised outcomes, and sense of humour
