Supporting Shakti - TELUS' innovative tree planting business - you'll help drive comprehensive financial planning, reporting, and daily accounting operations. This role is ideal for a detail orientated professional, offering an opportunity to blend financial expertise with meaningful environmental impact through robust financial planning and management, and operational excellence.

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Maintain accurate financial records using Xero accounting software
  • Manage employee expense, accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Oversee semi-monthly payroll processes, including periodic WCB and WSBC filings
  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Monitor credit card transactions
  • Cash flow management and forecasting
  • Prepare and post journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately
  • Manage capital asset reporting and depreciation schedules
  • Prepare financial statements and reports
  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Assist with year-end tax filing preparation as required

 

 

Qualifications

 

What you bring:

 

  • Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices
  • Proficiency in cloud based accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks)
  • Ability to manage daily financial transactions
  • Experience with account reconciliations
  • Experience with intercompany transactions
  • Solid understanding of financial regulations and compliance
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner with various stakeholders

 

Experience:

 

  • 3-5 years of experience in a senior accountant or bookkeeping role for a small- to medium-sized organization
  • Experience in forestry or manufacturing industries is considered an asset
  • CPA designation is considered an asset
  • Xero experience is considered an asset

 

While this position is posted as a Financial Analyst III position, candidates whose experience and qualifications align more closely with a Senior Financial Analyst role are strongly encouraged to apply as we have flexibility to consider candidates at this level. Salary Range:  $73,000-$109,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  12%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
