The Business Marketing Strategy & Planning team is responsible for the strategic planning and priorities of the holistic Business Marketing organization. Supporting the VP of Business Marketing, our mandate includes budget & target setting for the Wireline and Wireless product portfolios across all B2B segments, OPEX management, capital governance, tracking and reporting on key financial and performance metrics, and delivering strategic deep-dives and programs.
Within this high-performance team, we are the Business Strategy team, reporting to the Director of Strategy & Planning. Our team’s focus is on gaining a deep understanding of our business and customers, and using it to envision, build, and articulate the innovative strategies that will help us win in the Canadian B2B telecom space. We also collaborate closely with our leadership team to help communicate and drive these strategies across the organization.

Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together:

As a Financial Analyst III on the Business Strategy team, you’ll become our resident operating expense expert. As the broader Business Marketing team continues to grow, you’ll use your finance and budgeting acumen to help develop monthly, quarterly, and annual budget outlooks, and help guide leadership decision-making on investment decisions.
This means you’ll be doing detailed analysis, budgeting, and planning, while also being part of a Strategy team with significant exposure to our senior leadership team. Best of all, you’ll be at the forefront of supporting exciting transformation as our organization evolves over the next 6-12 months!

Lastly, we’re a small and entrepreneurial team, so you’ll have the opportunity to roll up your sleeves and support the development of business strategy deliverables, business cases, and customer/market analyses.

Here's how:

  • You will collaborate closely with the Business Marketing leadership team to define, forecast, and track operating expense outlooks for the month, quarter, and year, across each functional area of Business Marketing.
  • You’ll build and foster deep relationships with our Finance stakeholders to collaborate on inputs to monthly triage and to shape and execute on corporate budget rebalancing/reduction asks.
  • Through detailed analysis of cross-organizational budgets, you’ll be responsible for identifying and diagnosing budget variances and their root causes/drivers.
  • Armed with insights on our operating expense trending, you will support our leaders in planning for and optimizing their investment priorities.

You're the missing piece of the puzzle:

  • Financial Planner: You love digging into financial data. You’ll analyze it, pivot it, and seek out new trends - all in pursuit of getting the best possible insights. You are an Excel and Google Sheets whiz and are comfortable developing monthly, quarterly, and annual budget files from scratch.
  • Team Player: Building collaborative relationships with Finance and Planning teams comes naturally to you, and you can collaborate with others to pinpoint a data discrepancy or compromise on a budget target.
  • Visionary: You see the bigger picture of the problem you’re trying to solve, and will proactively seek out new data points to complement your analysis.
  • Organizer: You’re not fazed by needing to condense complex information from multiple senior stakeholders into a single clean, integrated source of truth, and you’re looking to take this skill to the next level.
  • Energized Doer: When our leaders are looking for answers, you’re excited to roll up your sleeves and get started. In your downtime, you would enthusiastically enjoy learning more about B2B telecom strategy and building your overall strategic/storytelling acumen.

Great to haves:

  • 3-4 years of experience as a part of or directly supporting a Finance/FP&A team
  • A professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CA) would be considered an asset
  • Telecommunications and/or B2B marketing experience would be considered an asset
