The Portfolio Finance & Operations Manager is at the epicentre of the investment and portfolio development teams. As part of a small and high performing team you will deliver financial insights, portfolio direction and operational recommendations to the TELUS and TELUS Ventures leadership teams.

 

This is an opportunity to join one of Canada’s most active venture capital groups to launch and/or accelerate your career in either the Private Equity or Venture Capital industries.

 

Here’s how

 

  • Manage the finance, reporting and governance of TELUS Ventures including portfolio return, cash requirements, budgets & shareholdings
  • Be the chief storyteller for the portfolio by crafting internal and external stakeholder communications on performance, notable investments, collaboration efforts with stakeholders and strategic outlooks
  • Share insights on portfolio data, capital allocation, investor insights and key performance metrics
  • Position TELUS Ventures to deliver an outstanding experience by serving as a key point of contact for portfolio companies, investors and TELUS business partners
  • Leverage your finance background in the evaluation of investment proposals helping the team craft a well rounded investment strategy
  • Manage the current portfolio of investee companies with a private equity view to value optimisation
  • Lend your financial expertise to portfolio companies to help them scale
  • Develop, track and positively influence the ongoing investment by developing key business metrics in conjunction with our investee companies
  • Stay up to date on current trends in the technology industry and key operational and financial metrics to assess companies
  • Lead the implementation of finance tools and supporting infrastructure across multiple funds in multiple geographies

 

Qualifications

 

 You’re the missing piece of the puzzle

 

  • Minimum 10 years prior experience with at least 3 in a senior finance/accounting role
  • Industry experience in a technology environment or investment management
  • Knowledge of operational and financial drivers and best practices affecting technology companies
  • Demonstrated depth of financial analytics experience and advanced modelling using a driver-based methodology
  • Ability to navigate both the corporate landscape and the start-up ecosystem
  • Experience using CRM and other deal flow, portfolio management tools, and data analytics tools such as PowerBI or Tableau
  • MBA degree, CFA or CPA designation(s)

 

You will be successful if you have the following

 

  • Superior financial modelling, research and presentation skills with the ability to present strategic options in a clear concise manner
  • Entrepreneurial spirit which will drive passionate ownership, process improvement and responsibility for the portfolio of investments
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple, simultaneous projects and initiatives in the portfolio and work within an environment of rapid change and evolving priorities
  • Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills including the ability to collaborate effectively in situations without formal influence & across geographies
  • Continuous improvement mentality - challenging the status quo
  • Strong communication skills with experience interacting with senior leaders in both large and small organizations
  • Strong bias to action with the ability to work independently to achieve the required goals

Midpoint Base Salary:
