As a Senior Communications Manager, you will drive the internal and external communications across our Corporate Citizenship and Communications portfolio and social purpose narrative, including TELUS’ Brand Marketing, Sponsorship, Community Investment, TELUS Friendly Future Foundation, Sustainability, Connecting for Good portfolio of programs, and Team TELUS Cares (volunteerism) initiatives. Providing strategic communications counsel, you’ll effectively develop, execute and shape internal and external communications programs across internal communications, corporate communications and executive communications to strengthen TELUS’ brand and reputation and transform how we tell our story. 

 

Together, with our program leads, you will grow a narrative that advances our community investment strategy and promotes equal access and responsible use of technology. You will also manage executive communications for our Chief Social Innovation, Communications and Brand Officer, including speeches, presentations, social media, media relations and internal communications, amplifying the positive impact we are making in the communities where we live, work and serve.

What you’ll do

 

Reporting to the Director of Communications for Corporate Citizenship & Communications, and People & Culture, you will lead a centralized function that manages internal and external social purpose communications and provides oversight of key messages across TELUS. 

 

Specifically:

 

  • Strategic Partnership: Develop strong stakeholder relationships, establish trust with senior level executives, program stakeholders and your team members, and proactively advise on industry trends and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Communications Excellence: Develop, implement and evolve best-in-class communications strategies, tactics, key messages and metrics that support Community Investment priorities, enhance engagement and enable team members to advocate on TELUS’ behalf.
  • Collaboration: Work with key stakeholders to support the success of community investment priorities and strategic programs through authentic, inspiring, innovative and effective communications 
  • Storytelling: Create and curate strategic narratives/compelling storylines that connect to business objectives and to what matters most at an individual level
  • Innovation & Creativity: Drive innovation by looking for new ways of working, exploring best practices and challenging communication channels in new and digital ways
  • Marketing & Brand: Ideate/define and apply a consistent and compelling vision and approach to communications including narrative, brand and standards
  • Thought Leadership: Predict emerging trends and understand, analyze and simplify complex problems

 

 

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership and high performance with the ability to guide and influence teams and drive operational excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to maximize our impact by achieving consistent results while working under pressure in a fluid and dynamic environment with cross-functional teams, senior executives and key stakeholders
  • Strategic thinking with a demonstrated excellence in communications disciplines and the proven ability to to maximize our impact by delivering measurable results in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Data driven approach with proven experience leveraging insights to develop strategic and agile communications campaign that deliver results
  • Persuasive writing and editing skills with an affinity for modernizing the way TELUS speaks to internal and external stakeholders, including team members, leaders, media and customers
  • A sociable and collaborative attitude with a desire to be part of an innovative, passionate and diverse team that manages the reputation for one of Canada’s most admired brands - and has fun while doing it!

 

And you have…

 

  • 8+ years or more of communications experience
  • University degree or equivalent experience
  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline is required or extensive related business experience in a senior communications or marketing communications role

 

Great-to-have

 

  • You have previously worked at an agency and/or have experience operating in a large corporate environment
  • Experience in the telecommunications, consumer technology and/or business-to-business sectors
  • Additional post-secondary education, an accredited public relations, communications or marketing designation


Location:

 

  • Vancouver preferred, anywhere in Canada 
  • This is a mobile role with the expectation that occasional office attendance may be required

 

 

Salary Range:  $86,000-$130,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
