What you bring

 

As a Senior Compensation Consultant, you will bring your thought leadership and in-depth knowledge of compensation trends and practices to support the management of global programs and processes to our growing organization, with global operations across 30+ countries.

 

You provide professional understanding of compensation, total rewards, pay equity, and human resources and use your knowledge to reinforce the design, education and implementation of compensation initiatives that support the constantly changing needs of our business landscape. 

 

With your strategic mindset, innovative approach and pragmatism, you will ensure the effective design and delivery of global programs including: job architecture, job evaluation, salary structures, incentive plans, policy design and M&A integrations. Further, you will bring your analytical thinking and attention to detail to a variety of provincial and federal pay legislation initiatives and maintain market awareness of the legislative landscape for new and upcoming trends and best practices.

Working as a member of our Compensation COE team within People & Culture (P&C), you will research, analyze and advise on compensation programs and initiatives across the globe. You will work in partnership with other COE teams as you seek to solve a diverse set of challenges with a data driven approach.

 

The People & Culture team and senior leaders in the organization depend on our team to provide guidance on internal and external market trends and compensation legislation, and we help empower leaders to effectively attract and retain new team members in alignment with the TELUS compensation strategy.

Here's how

 

  • Collaborate on enterprise-wide global projects to ensure our job architecture is future-oriented, relying on your expertise across compensation and organizational design
  • Provide strategic input on global alignment and harmonization projects related to job architecture, salary structures, short-term incentive plans and long-term incentive design
  • Lead on a pay legislation initiatives, including: project management, compensation calculations, cost analysis, presenting recommendations to senior leadership audiences, and executing public postings and pay adjustments
  • Support the smooth integration of acquired organizations by conducting thorough analysis of the business case impacts and alignment with TELUS Total Rewards strategy, in collaboration with our People and Culture Mergers & Acquisitions team
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of a formal job evaluation process to support compliance with federal and provincial pay equity legislation, and conduct job evaluation for management professional positions
  • Align compensation approaches with TELUS Total Rewards philosophy and business needs by providing recommendations and solutions to drive effective talent attraction, development and retention
  • Lead on ad hoc compensation projects from initial assessment through to implementation, including: policy and/or process design, analysis, change management and creation of supporting tools and resources
  • Provide training and education to P&C Business Partners, Talent Acquisition Consultants, COE Partners and business leaders on job architecture, salary structures, job evaluation, and pay legislation
  • Prepare presentations and analyses for executive audiences; outlining results, trends and costings
  • Supporting and living the TELUS values, investing in personal and professional quarterly goals and objectives, engaging and leading team meetings, and supporting, rewarding and recognizing your peers

 

 

Qualifications

With:

 

  • Progressive experience in Compensation or Total Rewards roles, or in HR generalist positions with a sound understanding of compensation practices and policies
  • Experience with SuccessFactors and/or Workday HRIS systems, compensation modules
  • Strong experience and understanding of job architecture, job evaluation, pay equity and pay transparency, and awareness of provincial and federal pay legislation across Canada
  • Excellent communication skills: clear, concise and influential in all aspects of communication
  • Sound analytical skills: ability to decipher moderately complex data sets and deliver recommendations and insights
  • Robust decision-making skills: grounded in data over gut instinct
  • Effective collaboration skills: someone others actively seek out to partner with
  • A problem-solving mindset: ability to demonstrate the fundamentals of defining a problem, conducting thorough analysis, and building clear recommendations
  • An understanding of change management principles and experience creating compensation tools and resources to support transformation programs
  • An affinity for fast-paced, continuously changing, dynamic environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Success Factors and G-Suite
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education

 

Great-to-have:

 

  • Hold or working towards your CPHR/CRHA designation or equivalent
  • Hold or working towards your CCP designation
  • Global compensation/Total Rewards experience across any of the following regions: US, UK, EMEA, South America, South East Asia, China, Australia
  • Project management qualifications and/or experience
  • Bilingual (written and conversational English and French)

 

 

Salary Range:  $93,000-$139,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
