The Telus Business Solution (TBS) Wireline Finance team is a dynamic and highly engaged team that values diversity of thought and collaboration. We provide financial leadership for internal customers, such as the Strategy, Marketing, Sales and Corporate Accounting teams, and act as a trusted partner to help them achieve business growth.

 

We support the growth of a wide range of Wireline products from end to end by providing accurate reporting, short and long-term forecasting and analyzing product developments and M&As.

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will primarily support our TELUS Business Solutions (TBS) with a balanced mixture of reporting, analysis, and ad-hoc projects in all areas that affect Wireline revenue and COGS. Working closely with our Strategy and Marketing partners, you will help set the financial forecasting and lead strategic discussions on how to achieve these goals. The value-add financial reporting you provide enables our business decision makers to help TELUS gain competitive market advantage. You will also be responsible for providing additional support for the larger TBS financial team.

 

Here’s how

 

As a Trusted Finance Partner, you will:

 

  • Act as the TBS Wireline Finance prime for actuals and forecasting by collaborating with senior leadership, Strategy and Marketing to provide P&L/KPI stewardship and drive strong business outcomes
  • Prepare and present TBS financial reports to senior finance leaders and internal customer team members
  • Regularly analyze results to identify financial challenges and lead deep dives to solve them
  • Proactively support profitability growth through review and analysis of business cases pertaining to pricing decisions, new customer acquisition, and other factors that impact 
  • Co-ordinate and liaison with internal/external auditors, SOX, Accounting Policies and Revenue Assurance to ensure adequate revenue recognition and system controls
  • Be the finance prime to ensure existing and new products are recognized correctly 
  • Lead the investigation on customer specific billing credits and ensure appropriate accrual process is followed
  • Support month-end processes for closing financials 
  • Support Adhoc projects as required

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining technical accuracy

 

Knowledge and Experience

 

 

  • 5 years’ experience in developing and interpreting financial statements
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, with in-depth knowledge of Excel
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Hyperion
  • A post-secondary degree in business administration or commerce and completion of a professional accounting designation: CPA

 

Great-to-haves

 

 

  • Knowledge of TELUS billing systems and the linkage into SAP
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Hyperion
  • Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), particularly IFRS 15
