Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together

 

Are you an experienced, hands-on developer who has delivered large-scale applications while never forgetting to have fun in the process?

 

As a Senior Full Stack Developer with the Platform Technology & Tools team, you’ll lead the development of the Simplify Hub – TELUS’ new developer portal – to enable seamless digital experiences for our team members through engaging technical content and applications that supercharge the developer journey.

 

You’ll grow to become a subject matter expert in team member experience, and you’ll work with multiple product owners, vendor partners and partner teams across the organization to build and evolve this critical piece of our internal developer platform.

 

You’ll also be responsible for designing, building and running other software applications that enable innovative, data-driven, customer-centric digital experiences for TELUS team members. As a custodian of user trust, you’ll employ best practice in development, security, accessibility and design to achieve the highest quality of service for our team members.

Here’s how

 

  • Lead the continued development of multiple team member experience products across TELUS’ platform and other development community tools
  • Become the technology subject matter expert on team member experience tools 
  • Develop or enhance the applications based on data, user feedback and experience
  • Help teams integrate other applications into the platform
  • Help update and maintain the GitHub repository, Simplify Hub and other technical documentation

 

 

Qualifications

 

Your ideal profile includes

 

  • A passion for new technologies, you’ve kept up to date on top trends and love to bring new ideas to your team
  • Strong backend development experience (we use Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis)
  • Experience designing and documenting APIs (we use Node.js, OpenAPI Spec, Graph QL)
  • Some front-end development (we use JavaScript, React, CSS)
  • Experience working with developer portals or team member experience platforms and able to share learning and suggest improvements
  • Experience working in an agile delivery environment
  • Experience managing a multi-cluster container (Docker/Swarm)
  • Proficient client side testing (mocha, jest)
  • Experience with securing web applications to common security threats
  • Experience with clustering technologies (we use Kubernetes)
  • Identifying opportunities to measure code and determine the tools to measure
  • Ability to identify a problem and its business restraints (demonstrates breadth of vision)
  • Regularly using source code management systems (we use GIT)

 

Great-to-haves

 

  • Experience developing in TypeScript for tooling
  • Experience with classifying and optimizing technical content to improve the developer experience
  • Experience with Spotify’s Backstage Open Source development platform 
  • Experience with Analytic tooling to make technology decisions for enhancements (we use Adobe Analytics & Google) 
  • Understanding the importance of creating accessible content and how that applies to WCAG 2.0 AA principles
  • Understanding the developer lifecycle (from app templates, pipelines, health, etc.) and experience (ways of working) with tools and technology used to support these practices and processes
