Job Description

 

We're seeking a Senior Search Strategist to lead our organic search (SEO) initiatives while collaborating on paid search (SEM) efforts. You'll be at the forefront of search innovation, optimizing our digital presence for traditional search engines and emerging AI-powered search landscape.

 

Working alongside a talented team of marketing experts, you'll develop cutting-edge SEO & SEM strategies, leverage AI tools, and bridge the gap between organic and paid search to drive engagement, loyalty, and growth across the TELUS Health consumer product portfolio which includes TELUS Health Medical Alert, TELUS Health MyCare and TELUS Health MyPet.

 

You'll play a key role in shaping our brand through optimized organic search presence and forward-thinking AI search strategies—integrating TELUS' Social Purpose while improving health outcomes and access to healthcare in communities across Canada.

What You'll Do

 

SEO Leadership (Primary Focus)

 

  • Lead and own the organic search strategy for TELUS Health consumer products
  • Inform and execute technical SEO strategies including working with partners on new webpages and optimizing existing webpages
  • Analyze our website performance to empower agency and content teams to make data informed decisions around key areas such as site architecture and crawlability, page speed and performance and mobile optimization
  • Plan and execute on and off-page optimization strategies to enhance the organic visibility of our website
  • Guide content creators on SEO best practices, E-E-A-T principles, and AI-friendly content structures
  • Monitor and analyze performance to improve traffic, rankings, CTR, and conversions
  • Develop strategies for zero-click searches and AI Overview appearances

 

SEM Collaboration (Secondary Focus)

 

  • Collaborate on Paid Search campaigns, ensuring keyword alignment and unified messaging
  • Provide strategic input on Google Ads, Search Ads 360, and Microsoft Ads campaigns
  • Identify opportunities to maximize search visibility and ROAS
  • Support budget optimization by leveraging organic gains

 

Analytics & Cross-Functional Collaboration

 

  • Build and present comprehensive search performance reports with actionable recommendations
  • Translate complex data into strategic insights for stakeholders
  • Collaborate with digital, creative, content, product, and analytics teams
  • Champion SEO best practices and educate teams on the evolving search landscape

 

 

Qualifications

 

You are likely in a similar SEO/SEM position today, with many of the following talents and experience items:

 

  • 5+ years SEO experience with proven track record driving organic growth, rankings, and qualified traffic
  • 3+ years SEM experience with Google Ads and (Microsoft Ads)
  • Expertise with SEO tools: SEMrush, Ahrefs, MOZ, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Google trends and GA4
  • Technical SEO proficiency: site audits, schema markup, Core Web Vitals, mobile optimization
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript as they relate to SEO
  • Deep knowledge of search algorithms, E-E-A-T principles, and how AI is impacting organic CTR/traffic
  • Noted communication skills to translate data into insights for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong project management and prioritization abilities
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to unite cross-functional teams

 

Great-to-haves:

 

We are especially motivated to engage with individuals with one or more of the following:

 

  • Healthcare/health tech or regulated industry experience (PIPEDA, accessibility standards)
  • Activation experience in other advertising platforms (i.e. Meta Ads Manager, DV360)
  • Google Shopping experience
  • CRO and A/B testing knowledge
  • CMS familiarity and project management certification (PMP, Agile, Scrum)
  • Degree in marketing, digital marketing, or data analytics
  • Experience with marketing automation platforms
  • Bilingualism in French would be considered an asset but is not a requirement

 

Why This Role Matters: With AI-powered search causing significant shifts in organic CTR and user behavior, this role is critical to ensuring TELUS Health maintains and grows its digital presence in an evolving search landscape.

 

 

Salary Range:  $74,000-$110,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  12%
