The TELUS Smart Transportation Solutions (STS) team has embarked on a journey to disrupt the transportation experience for a safer and greener future. Working within the TELUS Business Solutions organization, the STS product team works across the organization to grow a portfolio of transportation solutions for Infrastructure Owners and Operators.

 

We are looking for a highly motivated and results-driven individual to join the STS team as a Senior Technical Product Manager. This is an exciting role where you will strategize, orchestrate, and execute on initiatives to improve Smart Transportation product profitability and value chain experience. We are looking for someone who enjoys relationship-building with stakeholders, has a bias for action, believes that leading through change and ambiguity is motivating and has a firm sense of accountability with a growth mindset.

What you’ll do

 

Reporting to the Manager of the STS product team, the Senior Technical Product Manager brings a strategic mindset that sees the big picture in their work and can define ways to execute effectively and efficiently. Bringing a proven ability to execute, coupled with an excitement to take on new, ambiguous challenges that will be industry-defining is vital for this role.

 

As a Senior Technical Product Manager in the TELUS Smart Transportation Solutions team, you will work within a product management team to expand and operationalize a portfolio of transportation solutions. You will bridge the technical and business worlds, engaging with and getting buy-in from diverse stakeholders and partners, both internally and externally, on the product roadmap. You will build and manage ongoing business cases, value chain, forecasts, as well as project schedules to ensure business continuity and product leadership.

 

The Senior Technical Product Manager challenges the status quo. Working with others, the Senior Technical Product Manager responsibilities will include:

 

  • Serve as the subject matter expert by maintaining up-to-date industry knowledge: competitor products, vendors, technologies, and standards
  • Define product roadmap and service architecture leveraging market research, product design experience, documentation expertise, engineering interlock, and financial documentation
  • Create, maintain, present and champion business cases that support the product roadmap to all levels of leadership
  • Participate in the design and development of a product portfolio strategy
  • Work with other technical product owners and engineering to develop products with an emphasis on operational scalability
  • Build, maintain, and effectively communicate the project plan and schedule for new product development projects to all levels of leadership, both internally and externally
  • Rapid prototyping for user feedback and conducting market research to stay ahead of competitors and identify new opportunities in the smart transportation sector
  • Maintain strategic partnerships and relationships across multiple vendors
  • Develop strategic partnerships with ventures and startups to enhance our product offerings
  • Analyze user data to drive product decisions and optimize the user experience

 

 

Qualifications

 

You are likely in a similar product role today (ideally in tech), with many of the abilities and experience points, below:

 

  • You are known for successfully launching and scaling products
  • You have a technical background and an ability to understand and communicate complex technological concepts
  • You have experience with agile development methodologies and product lifecycle management
  • You have renowned analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making and a bias for action
  • You are recognized for communication and execution of strategic visions for long-term product roadmaps
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field

 

Great-to-haves:

 

We are especially motivated to connect with individuals with one or more of the following:

 

  • Experience with smart transportation or smart city technologies
  • Experience with new technology development
  • Knowledge of IoT platforms, AI/ML applications, and cloud services
  • Experience in the ICT or telecom industry
  • PMP Certification
  • Agile Product Management Certification
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline

 

Note that this role can be performed in a remote/hybrid capacity from in or near any major centre in Canada.

Salary Range:  $106,000-$158,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits such as:
