Our Connected Home Hardware team researches, ideates, designs, develops, and manages consumer technologies to make our customers' interaction with TELUS services faster, seamless and more reliable. Whether finding new ways to connect consumer devices, advancing product form factors or improving machine-to-human interactions,  our team is focused on improving our customers' lives by making technology simpler and friendlier to use.


We work closely with our engineers, marketing teams, industrial designers and manufacturing partners to guide products from conception through to launch and retirement. We support  products like Optik TV, PikTV, Boost Wi-Fi, SmartHome and more. The Connected Home Hardware Team works closely with our engineers, marketing teams, industrial designers and manufacturing partners to guide products from conception through to launch and retirement.

 

The impact you'll make:

 

As a Senior Technical Product Manager in the TELUS Connected Home Hardware Team, you’ll oversee hardware products and projects for customer premises equipment (CPE) used to deliver smart home and security services. You'll assess and evaluate TELUS’ current and future CPE portfolio to ensure the proper product mix for products including security and life safety sensors, door locks, lighting controls and thermostats.
 

What you'll do in this role: 

 

  • Define and maintain the product roadmap across existing and new products, including market research (technology, consumer, competitor), product design (industrial design, packaging, mechanical design, features, useability, and onboarding), requirements documentation, engineering interlock (RF, mechanical, software, and FW), and business rule documentation.
  • Lead the end-to-end internal and external project teams for smart home hardware product launches and to support existing products. This includes vendors, engineering teams, systems and ordering, app development, marketing, logistics, and supply chain management
  • Create, maintain, present and obtain approval on business cases that support your product roadmap to all levels of leadership.
  • Effectively identify and manage technical changes and associated risks throughout the product life cycle.
  • Drive efficiency in CPE installation processes.
  • Maintain strategic partnerships and relationships across multiple hardware, silicon, and software vendors.

Qualifications

 

 

What you bring: 

 

  • 5+ years experience in technology product management and design with consumer technology products.
  • Experience working with technologies required to provide internet, TV or smart home services.
  • Degree in business, engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep understanding and experience with consumer hardware development and various electronics manufacturing working models.
  • Experience with full product life cycle management, providing product vision/roadmaps, product requirements, and bringing complex products to market on time.
  • Known for your passion around working across groups, partnering with technical and business teams, conducting research, and building business strategy.
  • Exceptional ability to bring people together to problem solve, identify challenges, and  manage the decision-making process.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
     

 

Great-to-haves:

 

  • Deep understanding of user story creation and UX design.
  • Experience with technical and consumer requirements gathering.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Knowledge of G-Suite.
     
Salary Range:  $106,000-$158,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
